If you could pick just one thing...

If you could get just one item of clothing (or accessory) that you would normally be unable to even dream of affording, what would it be?

It's a little boring given the price tag, but I'm being strategic. I love the shape. I love the polkadots. I love the pockets. The sleeves. The neckline. And unlike a lot of expensive designer pieces, this is something I could actually wear in my everyday life. If I'm going to get a $900 dress, I want it to be something I wear all the time. Assuming the quality matches the price, I bet it would be worth every penny.

I love that dress too but why is it so expensive (than the name, of course)? You are smart to spend more on everyday stuff...I tend to spend too much on dressy things that I never wear. Or I used to, not anymore!

Lynn, I have never seen this dress in person but I'm sure both the textiles and the construction are impeccable in terms of quality.

If not, then Mr. Jacobs should be cuffed and thrown in the slammer for robbery.

I almost never look at things that are way out of my price range because I prefer to spend my time looking at things that are *just* out of my price range.

I'm with cciele - a Missoni dress. Although they do turn up on consignment for around $200 now and then. Or something Burberry, or a really amazing shearling aviator jacket.

Maya, I'm sure that dress is impeccable, but $925 for a simple cotton shift still makes me crazy. It almost makes me want to get my sewing machine out!

cciele - I have a knit very similar to that Missoni dress, except mine is all blue. I loved the fabric but had no idea what to do with it - you've just given me a idea!

I don't often look at the things that are waaaay out of my budget, so I don't think I have anything there to name and the things that are just slightly out of my budget tend to get pinned on Pinterest for inspiration.

Well Una I don't wear leather anywhere but my feet, and my feet are fussy, so shoes, bags, and other leather items like jackets are all out.

Coats would be limiting, since I could only wear them seasonally.

But I do wear a lot of dresses all year round, and I like clean simple dresses. If it's something I'd wear a lot, why not spend a lot on it? I don't want or expect something fussier just because I'm spending more. If anything it should be much easier to wear.

I can see the appeal of the dress Maya, it has so many possibilities.

Mine would probably be a perfect Chanel suit. It isn't practical for me right now but I could see it being something I would wear on Easter and to bridal showers when I am an older lady with snow white hair.

I'm normally not looking at really expensive things, either. But I think if I could choose only one expensive item for myself, it would be a watch. That's something I wear everyday and I love my current watch and don't ever change it with my outfit. The right watch for me would be for life.

Oh I'm torn, right now I love this dress but my long term love affair has been with the cartier tank francaise with gold case and black leather textured strap similar to this.
