Ideas needed on tops to wear with this skirt

I have this cute skirt I posted on my skirt thread a while ago and it's time for me to
to find tops for it. I am quite stumped at colors other than white/cream to go with it. Navy? Bright blue? I am afraid I'm quite clueless. Thank you for any input and once I've read your ideas I'll shop again in my closet and post pictures of potential outfits.

Tanya the skirt is very cute! Is it red and white? If so navy would go well with it.

Julia, it is actually hot pink&white, I guess the lightning in the photo is pretty bad. It would be simpler for me to figure out colors if it were red&white, but it's not.

Antje's right. Navy works even better with hot pink and white. I was afraid it might be tomato red then I wouldn't recommend navy.

I second the navy, that will look great.
But I also thought of purple: depending on the exact shade of hot pink in your skirt, maybe the cooler shades like the darkest purple in the middle of the first line of the square or the one in the corner below left.
Or the royal purple they are showing if you scroll down a bit.

I have that skirt - H&M, right? I have it in grey and white. I bought a grey shirt that goes with it while I was there. It's long but it scrunches up nicely. Can't wait to wear it because it's soooo comfy!

Super geometric skirt. I'd stick white and navy. Black seems too heavy. Yellow is another option. How about turquoise?

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! When I get home tonight I'll try them out- white, navy, turuoise, purple and yellow, post pictures and ask for your opinions!

Shiny, it's indeed a H&M skirt. I liked the grey one too, and almost got that one, but then realized that most of my skirts are neutral and I could use some color!
Becky I can wear some yellows, the more cooler ones, no mustard or anything like that.

So I tried on every color you suggested and here are the photos:
1) Generic white Express top.
2) Navy AT top ( petite size so it works for skirts).
3) New turquoise BR top, probably too long but would like to know if the color works.
4) Yellow white striped BR tee. I know that it's a t-shirt, and plus it has white stripes, so they don;t go together at all, I was just curios if you think this shade of yellow would work with this skirt.
5) Dove grey H&M tank
6) Green wrap VS sweater. I know it's cut too low and I need a cream cami underneath, I was too lazy to do it. Again especially interested in color.
7) Purple Express cami and white eyelet H&M vest
8) Dark eggplant Express top

Navy gets my vote!!

White one I don't like so well - because you can see the pattern through it.

Everything else is workable and wearable (and I would wear at some point - just to be different!), but I do like the navy the best.

First, let me say every time I see your photos, your waist looks smaller and smaller and I'm starting to hate you!

My favorite was the white--but I'm boring and have very little ability to put bright colors together unless it's from a can of paint. I agree w/Shiny about the print showing thru the white though--maybe a thicker fabric shirt. But my next favorite would be the yellow. I'm seeing the skirt as red though, no hot pink. Since Shiny knows the skirt, she might have a better image in her head of it's true color.

The white shirt is definitely too thin, I wear it with a white cami underneath, I was just too lazy to put it on for the picture.

Nicole, I feel the most comfortable in the 'safe' choices too, the white and the navy.
I am very new to mixing brights but I'd like the idea so I'd like to figure out one non-neutral color for the skirt.

Sorry for the bad lightning, my light has kind of a yellowish cast, but the skirt is indeed hot pink, as Shiny can confirm!

I think the yellow will be safer with pink than red--avoid that Ronald McDonald fashion statement.

Navy and turquoise are my faves. However it's hard to tell the color of your skirt so I'm not sure which one is better. I think that navy works with a darker pink and turquoise works with a softer one.

If you want to mix brights, then I think any of them will work. Except for some reason I'm not *as* crazy about the yellow. Not sure why. It might be because I am just not crazy about yellow in general (even if it is the trend - I may do yellow shoes though!)

The purple and the green ones look pretty cool to me. And the grey one has something about it I like. I like the color with it - but that may be because I have the grey version of the skirt. They seem right together.

As I said, I think you could get away with all of them - even the white if you layer a cami. I just like the navy best - but that could because I'm more classic in my own style.

Navy and turquoise look great, the green is a close second. I think all of them would work except I'm not crazy about the yellow (which is crazy in itself because I love yellow). Maybe because it seems like a much lighter/paler yellow than the skirt. If you really want to do yellow, I would try a more vibrant shade of it.

I agree completely with Ana. I know you said somewhere that mustard isn't to your liking, but I just don't think that yellow is working. A warmer yellow would do the trick.

Navy, turquoise and green are my fav’s. White would work if the top were thicker . The yellow needs to be cleaner and crisper. Wring accompanying colour intensity. Does that make sense?

Thank you all very much! I think I'll go with navy, green and turquoise and another (thicker) white. I'll probably skip the yellow since it looks that the shade of yellow that would work well with the skirt would be one that's pretty unflattering to my face. But I have plenty of options without it thanks to all of you!

Pink is one of my favorite colors and I wear it a lot. I agree with a lot of what the other girls said - navy, yellow, white, and cream all look great. My favorite match with hot pink is turquoise, and while I love the match you made, I think a more saturated turquoise would look a little sharper. I have done this combination and got so many compliments on it (and it was only a lacoste polo with a long sleeve under it on a very casual day).

By the way, I love the skirt and your waist is incredibley tiny.
