Over five years ago, after losing a significant amount of weight, I bought a pair of skinny, skinny jeans. They were low rise True Religions I bought from Nordstrom. I was so thrilled to fit into a 29. Recently they were regulated to commuting and call wear due to the low rise. Today I put them on and noticed a hole near the rear pocket.
I will not be replacing anytime soon, as I have plenty of other jeans. But it's nice to get my money's worth out of an item.

I aspire to wear something out! it sounds funny, but it is obviously a sign that you are choosing and loving your clothes well which I typically don't do. When I have worn items out it has usually been a quality issue rather than getting worn tons.

I wore out a pair of jeans this year, too -- in only one year! They were J. Crew toothpicks and I guess I literally wore them to death. Like you, I don't need to replace them because I have lots of other jeans, but it was interesting to see.

That's awesome! I wore out a pair of BF jeans this summer. They lasted a year so I definitely got my money's worth out of them. Unfortunately, besides these and some
casual tees, I haven't worn out much. Most of the time I tire of the style before I wear anything out.

My favorite skinnies are just about ready to die too. They are vince, prob 5 yrs old, and I have some newer vince skinnies but they do not feel nearly so good.

I'm glad to see someone else gets holes in their jeans by the rear pockets. This happens to me too and I've never understood why they wear out there. Too much sitting? It's a mystery.

I know it may seem funny to some, but I totally get what you're saying. I only seem to wear out knit tops so far. I have some TR Billy's that are pretty low rise, but I'm keeping them anyway.

I hear you. I would love to be able to only buy items that I love so much that I wear them out. Too bad I am so bad at predicting which ones they will be.

I totally get this too! I keep a careful eye on my 7 or 8 year old David Kahn bootcuts that are now too big but chopped off into BF shorts and so nicely faded and worn -- I know that someday they're going to start coming apart at the seams, and I'm not looking forward to that, but it will be good to know I've worn an item out so thoroughly and gotten full use out of it, despite weight loss and a change in style!

I've worn out a couple pairs of jeans over the years and it feels good, except when you really love the pair and are sad at the end of a pants era. Cautionary tale though, for me I don't get a little hole, the fabric will thin out until it inevitably rips open all the way across right under a butt cheek, this has happened at least twice when I was in public and couldn't go change quickly.

I love wearing an item out - it really does feel like getting your money's worth! I do wear a lot of my items out.

About 7 years ago I got a tiered denim skirt for Christmas that I just fell in love with. I don't lie - I must have worn the skirt at least 300 times! It is still going (denim wears SO well) but has been downgraded to my work/painting clothing. I was happy to downgrade it though, as it is so comfy and I enjoy being able to wear it for work.

That's quite an accomplishment, to say nothing of your weight loss. I haven't worn out a pair of jeans since my kids were little. I'd really like to stop churning and wear the jeans I have until they are actually worn out. Thanks for the inspiration.

I like that feeling as long as I can still replace the item! It's disappointing when a beloved piece wears out, but I can't find an equivalent replacement piece.

Yay! I think that is a great accomplishment. As I've streamlined my wardrobe, I'm finally starting to wear out items instead of just always getting rid of them because I am tired of them. It is such a good feeling!
