San - can you say more about what your concerns are with this dress? It looks great in the photos - especially with those different jackets, OMG - but is there is part of it that feels too big?

It certainly doesn't look big, it looks very flattering, but how does it feel?

I think it may be a tad too big. In the second photo there appears to be a little bit of bunching just under the bottom of the jacket. How does it feel to you? x

Around the hips, I wonder if it looks too big, or is it my imagination?

I think it looks too big and we are losing your amazing figure in it. I honestly think you can do better!

I think it looks a touch to big, too. It's hiding your shape a bit.

I do not think that it looks too big, however it would be nice to see the next size down for comparison. It is lovely with all the layering pieces and on its own. What did Angie think ?

I've seen the next down on. It was too tight around the midriff. Do you remember that, Sandy?

My suggestion is that you take this dress in a bit at the bottom so that we can see your shape a little more. Think you can alter it yourself? You sew BEAUTIFULLY.

Ah yes, I have just the perfect idea. I can take it to my sewing club where they have open sewing day once a month and we can bring in any project for help. I'll do that.
I didn't remember trying on the size down but that doesn't mean it didn't happen, there were so many clothes flying around and my memory isn't what it used to be.
Thanks.

I think it looks ok now but will look fab after you alter it!

San just wanted to say that the jacket in the second picture looks wonderful on you. Did you get it?

Posted 3 months ago

Yes Anne, I did get that jacket and it is one of my favorite pieces.

San, you have such a beautiful figure! I think the dress could be more tapered in toward the thigh/knee. It doesn't look like a flared A line, it looks like more of a straight cut.

I have a similar dress that I wear over and over, that I love. I'm sure it will be worth it to have the skirt taken in just a bit.

Thanks for the help everyone.
Luckilly I took a pattern fit class recently so I have a master pattern to fit myself. I think you are right fathenry it is not an A line and should hug just a tad more, but not too much.
I'll take it to the free sewing day run by the same teacher who taught the pattern fit class and I'm sure it will be a great beginners project for me.
Thankyou for the compliment on my old figure. I can't tell you how that makes my day!
You're all great. Thanks for your help.

Sandra - please post a followup photo once you alter the dress! I'm really curious to see how it turns out.

Posted 3 months ago

Ok Medusa I will post a follow up. Thanks for asking. It will be a month or so before I go to the class to alter the dress, but I will post before and after pics.
You are too funny calling me Sandra. Only my Grandma got away with that! HaHa!!

Oh, sorry! I'll definitely use San in you prefer that.
