And it's in Acadia National Park, Maine. DH and I just returned from an 11 day trek up the coast of Maine, with visits to Perkins Cove, Kennebunkport, Goose Rocks Beach, Portland, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, and Bar Harbor/Acadia. We had exceptional weather and a fantastic trip - right up to our last few days when I came down with strep throat. I wasn't that sick with it until Fri., when we drove to NH - we intended to visit Rye/Portsmouth (and Viva - I'm so sorry we couldn't get together!), but I was so sick I just crawled into the hotel and into bed.

For this trip I packed lightly, since we would be staying in 4 different hotels along the way. Since it was going to be warm/hot (it got up to 84 more than once), and our activities were going to include sightseeing, hiking, and basically anything outdoors, I packed 5 shorts and 11 tees for daytime, with 2 heavier sweatshirts and 2 jeans for cooler nights. My footwear was one pair of comfy sandals (Bass "Sharon"), one pair of red sneakers (Target), and my favorite old Nike's. I had wanted to stop at the outlets and get a new pair, but we didn't get around to that.

While my outfits weren't spectacular, they were functional, which was key for this trip.

Pic 1 - Camden, Gap distressed 3/4 crops, Macy's graphic tee, and no one is cooperating with DH, the photographer!
Pic 2 - Perkin's Cove, J. Crew top, self-made linen shorts, Ray Ban cat's eye sunnies, and yes, Cosmo has a stroller (works great when you want to go in to a store).
Pic 3 - Pink plaid shorts (Kohl's I think), Loft linen tee, red sneakers
Pic 4 - At the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on the eastern seaboard - OK, this is not a good outfit but I have an excuse - I slipped on a rock and fell in the mud earlier in the day and this is what I found to wear in the car.
Pic 5 and 6 - Hiking in Acadia, more graphic tees and shorts
Pics 7 through 12 - Acadia is a beautiful, wonderful place. Where else can you walk on rocky cliffs, see the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, climb mountains, go to a sandy beach, visit a lake house for popovers and tea, hike trails, walk carriage roads, and hear all manner of languages and accents, all in the same day at the same place? It's magical and gorgeous, and I can't wait to get back there some day.
