I broke Angie's skirt rule, and now I need help

So a few years ago I stumbled across this long skirt at the Rack. Considering that I'm 6' this is probably the only time in my life I'll find a skirt hat sweeps the floor even in heels. But I've never been comfortable with styling it, so it sits in my closet. I can't seem to figure out exactly how to do it. I'm a modern classic pear, so I feel like it easily can become a frumpy look on me. If I was more edgy I think it might be easier. So anyway these are some different outfits I tried. Any feedback is welcome, and if you have any other ideas just throw them out there! Thanks!

I really like the way you're wearing the skirt here. All of these looks work.

You can wear a longer top and belt over it to accentuate your waist. You can also wear the skirt with a shirt tucked in.

I personally like to wear my maxi skirts with soft drapey tops (often knits and jersey fabrics) tucked in and a belt at the waist. Or - a pretty patterned blouse with elastic waistband for a faux-tucked look.

Hands down #4 is best , I think, because the top length is the most flattering.

I like 4 best too. The colour combo looks good, as well as the length of the jacket. I also like 3 but I would be tempted to switch out the shoes for black boots or booties (to bookend the top) and add some jewellery or maybe a high looped patterned scarf. Because of the pleats the skirt has a fair bit of volume so I would be tempted to try it with a fitted top (to balance the volume) that sits on the hip or a little higher (to give you waist definition). A fitted or semi fitted knit top could look good. It might also look good with something quite skimpy like a fitted sleeveless singlet/tank top but that is probably not practical from a seasonal perspective where you are.

I do think all of these works good! My fave is the tonal look in nr 2.

You did a good job modernizing the skirt with the moto and denim. My DH finds long skirts frumpy, so I never wear them myself. You might cut this one to an assymetrical hem if all else fails to make you feel fab. You could try an assymetrical tunic top or long cardi or duster as a third piece.

Echoing Joy a little bit (who mentioned chopping the hem), if it feels too frumpy to you, you could have one or two side-slits added for a peek of leg/ankle. Personally, I love the swishy, princess-y feel of a full uninterrupted maxi skirt (and I'm just barely 5'5").

I love it with both the moto and the denim jackets. Esp the neutral-on-neutral look in #2.

I agree that a longer and/or asymmetrical hemline on top would also feel very current.

Love #4 - proportions look great and the blue denim is great colour for beautiful you. I also like #2 - something about having the jacket open just makes the outfit sing.

Adore this skirt and think it looks great on you! I love it best in look #1 - the cropped jacket seems to make the proportions work best. Your legs look like they go on for miles!

I think it's a tad too long. I would shorten it to ankle length to show off your shoes/boots. It's a nice neutral that goes with most everything, and those pleats are just killer.

I really like 3 & 4. I'm not so crazy about it paired with the jacket in 1/2 as it looks like it's competing a bit. I think a simple, soft top works best with these long skirts.

#4 is my favourite, and has the edgy vibe you're seeking. I'm also pear-shaped, and find those skirts impossible to style, but this one definitely works for you with the jean jacket, and even with the closely fitted top in #3.

Thanks everyone. I'll look for a banded top and a form fitting one to try.
I've worn it with black suede booties before, and I think your right.. I prefer that.
I'm wearing the skirt lower on my hips in this pic, so I can pull it up higher.
I do have a hard time with belts on my waist though. I'm super short waisted and can't even fit the whole width of my hand between my hip and the natural side bend in my waist.
The pleats do make me feel wider on my hips, which is what makes it a bit trickier too. I'll try to be more brave and adventurous with it though.

I love the color and don't think it makes you look hippy!
I like the shorter tops and not too much bulk. A plummy color or navy woukd look great with your coloring( like the Jean jacket but dressier if you want to go that route.
Not sure you want to spring for alterations but I could see benefit of modest slit in hem. But I think just pulling it up & wearing a bit of heel to show some foot or ankle will do it.

I vote for #2. The open jacket balances the the look and that is a great jacket.
