How to wear a safari jacket

I just picked up an army green safari jacket from Ann Taylor. I like it because it has a cinched waist instead of a belt (I have a thick waist so don't wear belt well.)

The only way I know how to wear it is with a white t-shirt and dark washed jean. Any suggestions of how to wear it differently?

How about a skirt? Long if you are tall enough to pull it off--or just at the knee with a hint of an A line. I also the like the look of a safari jacket with some loose flowy dress trousers.

I would also look to infuse some color around your face. Depending on the exact shade of green, and how brave you are with color--you could go opposite the color wheel and wear tomato red, or a bold orange. Or an ocean blue that is in the same hue as the green would be less of a contrast, but still give a little shock of color.

oh, and don't forget the perfect necklace. Something Big, bold and brave!

Thanks Nicole! I like your idea of matching it with ocean blue. I read somewhere else suggesting to match army green with fuschia but it didn't work for me.

I'm a petite so a long skirt won't work for me. I tried it with a knee length flowing dress in blue/white/green and a bold blue necklace, it worked very well! I love it.

Wonderful! How about with a denim skirt, white pants or cream slacks? Army green works really well with citron too.

Angie you gave me another idea. I have a yellow cami and a pair of cream slacks. I'm sure they will look good together! Now I have three ways to wear it with my existing clothes so it qualifies for a good buy. Thanks!

Macy's has a model wearing a khaki safari jacket with denim walking shorts. I really liked the look and thought of this post when I saw it. You could dress it up by wearing dressier walking shorts too!

Good find Nicole! I would've never thought of this by myself.

I usually wear classic and simple clothes. This is the first safari piece I own. I can see that it allows me to step out of my old image and brings out the wild side of me.

It gives me an idea of solving the "wardrobe get boring" problem, that is getting a piece outside of your usual style and build outfits around it with existing pieces. It might surprise you.
