I'm with Staysfit...38. I love jeans and they are my go to bottom so I have them ranging form casual to dressy: skinny, jegging, straight, bootcut, boyfriend, flare. Colors range from light denim distressed blue to dark indigo, black, and white. I have tried purging, but these pairs always remain because they fit well. I do have favorites, but I do wear them all!

Oh my gosh I feel so much better - I thought I had gone a little overboard - in finding jeans that fit. I had honestly not purchased a pair of jeans in 2 years. What a crazy style shift.

This whole jeans loving thing is so new to me - Today I took the day off work and I'm sporting boyfriends and a sweatshirt and I for the first time ever get the appeal of jeans.

I am looking to purchase a pair of grey and really truely I will be set. Really - okay maybe not because now that I know there are jeans out there that fit my body I'm just a little bit obsessed.

Always Trying:
To answer not all these jeans are the magic jeans - they just started the current love affair and me realizing that there are jeans out there that fit my body.

Staysfit and Missy win.

Full length jeans for winter wear - 5 pairs (4 from Gap, 1 from ON)

Cropped for spring/summer wear - 5 pairs (3 from Gap, 1 from Macy's, 1 from Joe Fresh/JCP)

I recently purged several pairs of jeans and this is what's left!

Wow. You have a lot of jeans!

My jeans:
2 black
2 lightish blue
1 gray
1 dark blue

I have 6 pairs too:
-1 dark blue skinny
-1 med blue straight-leg
-1 med blue bootcut
-2 white (one with zippers on the ankles)
-1 cream (a very noticeable cream)

I live in jeans most of the time, so:

3 pairs medium wash straight leg
2 pairs medium wash skinnies
1 pair bootcuts
1 pair light wash boyfriends
1 pair grey boyfriends
2 pair black straights/skinnies

Looks like an even 10 for me! Mine are from Lucky Brand (4 pairs), JCrew (2 pairs), AG (2 pairs), Loft (2 pairs).

4 in total
2 bootcuts (1 hemmed for heels, one for flats)
1 staight cut that is a little too tight a good deal of the time
1 wine relaxed fit skinnies that used to be waxed

I'd like to get another pair of skinnies soon - I think that'll be enough for me

I can't wear jeans for work, except Fridays, and for a lot of our summer they are too hot. And I don't usually wear them in the evenings as lounge wear.

Well I'm glad Missey, Staysfit and Carter wrote in before me! I just counted mine and to my surprise, I have 26 of varying weights, cuts, colours, texture and styles. They are all premium, collected over several years, and get worn regularly. 70% are for cold/cool weather, 30% are lighter weight for warmer weather. While I have dressier pants, jeans are my go to day to day favourite for my current lifestyle.

Two. One pair of BF white jeans-which I could never ever live without again:-) and one straightleg-skinny blue fadded for casuals only, still never reach to wear them other then few times/year in fall...:-(.

Hooray Missey! I'm so glad I'm not alone! It's nice to know someone else has a thing for jeans! By the way, do you like shoes also?

I was a little nervous to count, seeing as some people seem to find larger collections excessive. I have 24 -- fairly evenly divided between straight/skinny, bootcut/flare, and a couple of BF (one is going to be cut off into shorts this summer). This includes two patterned (black on black), two waxed (which I barely wore this winter and might sell), two pairs of jeggings, and a pair of old jeans I can trash for messy projects like painting.

I also have maybe 4 pairs of old "trash" jeans at the ranch. The kind I won't miss if they get ripped or stained beyond help.

Jeans are my most worn item of clothing from September through May (the hottest months I rarely wear them), so I enjoy a variety.

Staysfit, don't get me started on shoes!

1 blue bootcut
1 blue straightleg
1 black straightleg

I wish the total were 4; I want to add white jeans but haven't yet found the right ones.

5 total.
1 dark blue baby boot (Paige Mathattan)
1 med blue boyfriend (Paige JJ)
1 dark black skinny (Paige)
1 white straight (Kut)
1 dark wide leg trouser (Talbots from 5 years ago)

I am embracing the white jeans this spring, as they haven't been worn much in the two years I've had them. They are heavy and a bit stiff. If I make it to wear 3-4 between washes (hard for me with whites) they get more comfy. Might need to try Angie's suggested flairs from Kut.

Not sure if the trousers are a current style, but they fit well.

I have one pair of red jeans. They count as jeans I think as they have pockets in the back.

I have thought about a white pair... but not quite ready yet.

2 bootcut in light and dark washes
1 white BF

'm sizing out of my bootcuts, and pants shopping is on hold until that sorts out. Hope DH doesn't get sick of the BFs this summer.

2 pair of trashed work jeans

Ideal jeans capsule for my lifestyle:
1 white
1 black straight leg
1 dark blue straight leg
1 very light blue/acid wash, maybe a BF
1 bootcut

At last count last summer I was at 25. I'm plus or minus a few today. I wear them daily.

Ha, Frannie, I did the same thing going from no jeans to probably about 15 pair right now. Finding that jeans have some stretch and looked better than trousers on my straight hips plus a casual life style caused the numbers to explode. They are all different colors and vary a bit in shape or length. However, I envy you being able to wear jeans in summer.

I have 15, including crops, jeggings, and my brocade pants that are technically made of twill and not denim. (Basically I counted everything that I would *wear* as jeans.) there is one exact duplicate in there - bought the second pair of long discontinued bootcuts when I found a new one in my size on eBay, but it turns out they wear like iron so the first pair (prob 10 yrs old by now) hasn't kicked it yet.

I honestly thought I had more! I wear jeans a lot as my work is pretty casual. I'm hoping to add one or two more (both grey which I don't currently have since my charcoal jeggings died this winter) soon.

Wow. I don't wear skirts or dresses & I don't have 38 pairs of pants, even including workout pants.
I think I have 3 pairs of jeans, now that I just put one pair into the goodwill pile on Saturday. Clearly I need to get with the program...

I can think of 13 off the top of my head, but I might be forgetting a few. But I don't own any other kind of pants at the moment. If I want to wear something that is dressier than jeans, I wear a skirt.

Too many to count:) I wear jeans most everyday, I'd guess around 20 or so.....

I think maybe 5? I am not nearly as much a jeans person as most; I will usually wear some other casual pant at home, but finally recognized jeans as very useful for smart casual.
I probably could do with only 3 and my goal is to focus and replace, not expand. The 2 most useful would be some kind of classic darkwash, straight or mini-boot, and a more soft, broken-in look, currently a slim BF style, that is as comfortable as some other lounge pants options. For expansion, could use the dark wash in different styles according to, not just the trend of the day, but footwear--bootcut for....boots and straight for loafers and oxfords. Then I would keep any that still fit well and re-evaluate from time to time. In general I find that if I'm not wearing one it's because somehow the fit has become off, or looks to tight or have to wear certain tops, so the most useful is the most versatile grab & go. Then I have one white, and I have to say I could live without it, but am glad I have it and a goal would be, just one white, don't need a white jean capsule.

I guess I'm at the low end of the spectrum! Four pairs total.

White, 2: 1 pair of straight leg and one boyfriend
Blue,2: 1 pair of skinny jeans. 1 pair of ankle crop in indigo. I just gave away my BF jeans as I lost 10 pounds and they were swimming on me.
I had a pair of black straight-leg jeans but also gave them away as they were too large.

I actually love jeans, but don't often wear them to work so they are reserved for weekends and vacations.

I love this thread! At one point I had an embarrassing amount of denim - like seriously close to 20 pairs. However, I've tried to really narrow down my closet because I find for me that I get too overwhelmed when I have too many options and there are some things that I hardly ever wear. Anyway, sorry for rambling haha. Here are my answers:

-I have one pair of dark skinny ankle-length denim
-One pair of dark wash flares (yes, still, even though they rarely make an appearance anymore)
-Three pairs of skinny colored denim (burgundy, pink, and bright blue)
-One pair of light wash boyfriend jeans with tears in them.
-One pair of black skinny jeans.

So that's seven pairs. I also have a few other pants that aren't denim (like more stretchy material) and I wear a ton of tights. Well, that's me

My jeans cost between $15-60AUD. It's hard for me to find comfy ones for my hourglass short waisted shape- they tend to hurt when sitting down or constantly need hiking up- so I've been looking for ages to find grey jeans that will work. Plus it's impossible to find bootcut or straight grey or coloured jeans in my pricepoint right now as skinnies has taken over the world!

-1 thick black skinnies
-1 thin stretch black skinnies, I've worn them so much they have faded and frayed so I use them as 'distressed' skinnies now!
-3 blue bootcuts...in 3 different sizes! But one has a whiskerred pattern at the top f the legs that I don't like
-1 blue straight leg

I much prefer pants and can't wear jeans to work except Fridays.

I have at least 20 (wide color/shape variety) but since we are going into summer, my mostly white jeans wearing season, I think I'm going to take a few not much worn to consignment.

Rambling Ann has me thinking I should think about what I really want in a jeans capsule - doesn't it always come back to the capsule.

I can wear jeans in the summer because I can't wear shorts to work and am in air conditioning. With the right top jeans on bottom don't bother me.

I love all the lists of jeans that people have and what combinations. Has me thinking.

Funny how so many say now that we are going into summer that they won't be wearing jeans and I'm gearing up to have them be part of my summer capsule. And yes before YLF I had a pair of white summer capri's I wore into the ground - kinda forgot the workhorse they were and remembered because of YLF - So a white pair is part to the new jeans capsule.

4. 2 straight leg, that I mostly wear rolled (they are on the short side), 1 dark wash boot cut, 1 white boyfriend.

I also have 3 jean jackets, 1 dark wash, 1 white, and one blue and white Ikat pattern.

In order of favorite:

1 Lucky Brand mini-bootcut, 1 J brand dark wash skinnies, 1 Seven snug faded but not ripped rolled boyfriends, 1 J brand dark wash flares, 1 Walmart Faded Glory straight legs but they say bootcut (I really like the fit of these so I have trouble figuring out where they rank), 1 JCPenney-line St. John's Bay? gray corduroy bootcuts (too big but they make me feel like my almost-post-hippie-era high school self), 3 old Izod stretch straight cut with bad tight waists but fit well in the bottom zone and the length is perfect for sneakers, 1 old Zena stretchy flares that are for at home chores, 2 pr. stretch corduroy slim straight cuts, navy and light blue that I wear to church in the winter when it's freezing. I think that's a total of 12. Fewer than I thought, but more than I probably need. I work full time and can't wear jeans to work. I would purge the Izods at least but I plan to retire next year, so I want to wait and see about many of my casual clothes.

ETA: I have some white jeans, too. MK brand I believe. They fit like a glove, look terrific on me IMHO, but I am scared to wear them since I might get them dirty or stained. They are really nice. I also never know what to wear with them, or it's too hot or something.

I usually have about 4 I am wearing and at least a dozen others that I am considering. My jeans collection is in a constant state of flow.
