I've just arrived home from a lovely 2 week river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest and wanted to let you know how I went with my pared down travel wardrobe. I had initially chosen 12 pieces; 2 skirts, 2 prs of jeans, 5 tops, and 3 jackets/cardis.

In the end I added in an extra top for the gala dinner, a dress and some exercise gear for bike riding. For shoes I took a pair of trainers, heels, ankle boots and flat sandals. I had various scarves and accessories.

The weather ranged from 15 -32 degrees, changing up to 12 degress almost overnight. After 2 very hot days I decided I needed to buy something for the hot weather, but then it got cold again, and I was fine. I did end up buying a few things, mainly summery tops in lighter colours...and shoes...lots of shoes. The black/grey colour pallet I chose was a bit dark, as Angie explained it could feel in the Summer light. Fortunately a couple of white tops purchased along the way helped lift it.

So, thank you for your advice. It was nice to have a smaller and more cohesive travel wardrobe even if it wasn't perfect colourwise. Next time.
