Just flying back so I've not yet had time to catch up on everyone's posts but I thought I'd post a quick note from my trip.

Tulum was amazing - everything we had hoped for and more: it's a very laid back beach town 2 hours south of Cancun. The locals are warm and welcoming; the food is delicious; the nature and the Mayan ruins are spectacular. We snorkeled with sea turtles and swam in a cave beneath a ceiling hung with tiny bats! We ate guacamole every single day, and we heard live music at four different meals.

The weather was mainly HOT and HUMID. I brought just enough clothing - I did not wear one top, one pair of shorts, and my one piece swimsuit. I could have used another easy dress. (in that heat, dresses were much easier and more comfortable than shorts even if we were bike riding or walking the ruins.) and everything got so sweaty there was only so much re-wearing.

We had one close call when hurricane earl blew through, but it hit Belize to our south. We had a very stormy night at the hotel with the other guests but it was actually quite fun.

Attached are a couple of pics showing the view from our room and me in my one purchase: a fab dress that I wore to dinner twice. Hallelujah for small breasts!
