My eldest son turned 13 last week. He wanted to visit Hobbiton which is about 45 minutes drive from where we live. So we took a trip today on a hot hazy Sunday afternoon. Hobbiton was looking very bucolic and dozy despite many many tourists.

We did not dress up but lots do apparently.

This is an anti fashion post, my shorts I know are unflattering but it seemed appropriate to wear Merrels to walk on the farmland - comfort was the name of the game. As we walked around we discovered the 13 year old was wearing a size 8 tee and the 10 year old was wearing size 8 shorts. They were oblivious.

While a film set many things are typical of the landscape around here. I grew up on a farm not dissimilar except for the Hobbit Holes:).

Bonus shot of us dressing up at the Green Dragon Inn at the end....
