Um...No. It's a bit artsy-crafty looking rather than modern contemporary. It's not you at all.

Fun to read everyone's take on the coat and I agree totally. Not quite 'you' Janet. Love UmmLila's ideas for a coat choice.

I got an alpaca coat in that same store last year near Christmas! And even with a great discount, it was still quite expensive. But it's one of the few pieces I've ever tried where I thought "I will have this forever."

One thing I noticed in the responses was a lot of "it's not you." I think we have to be careful to not hold others to rigid descriptors. Edgy or rock and roll might still be your primary style but don't we all like to shake things up occasionally? I remember when Suz tried some moto boots and got lots of "not your style" feedback. They were different but she liked them and (I think) she made them work with her style.

Sorry for the detour. I think I'm glad I didn't post my coat last year as I'm sure some could have said it wasn't me and I am still quite glad I got it!

Well, it's beautiful and you wear it well, but I vote no - I don't think it's quite right for you. It's got a princess vibe that seems off somehow, and it seems like something you'd end up only wearing once or twice a year. But I will keep my eye open for you now - the Neiman Marcus catalog often features dramatic coats!

Off to see if I'm a spanner!

JAileen, those women I see at the opera are very elegant. The opera audience skews old.
But that's not Janet's style as I perceive it.

Anna, I'm over it. I just have the taste of an elegant elderly lady..

A nice coat and it is fun to start the process and have fun along the way until you find the one that you are really sold on... My DD 25 found my sisters very long cobalt blue one and immediately claimed it. I know my sister is loving that.

A fun coat but as others have said, not enough edge for your current style. I do like the idea of a long coat for you though.

Apparently *I* am the little old lady at the opera, since I would wear that in a heartbeat.

Plus I have sworn not to buy any more gorgeous coats, which I am obsessed with. So pass it over here, please.

Seriously, where did you find that?

Fits really nicely, very flattering but I agree it seems off your normal style. I think it is the embroidery although that is what makes this really stand out.

April, it's here: http://alpacainternational.net

Most of what they sell is not my style, but I have found nice scarves there, and I have a couple pairs of their fingerless gloves that I love wearing.
