Help with what to wear to 40th (edited to add more pics)

Hi,

I need help please with what to wear to a 40th birthday party.
I was given a new moto jacket for my birthday and want to wear this.
Normally I would just have worn it with skinnies and a blouse, but don't get the chance to dress up a bit more much so want to take advantage!

Pic 1 - Black thin jersey dress with cowl neck, layered with pink longsleeve tee and black lace leggings, black flats, new jacket.
Not feeling really confident about the black lace leggings - opinions please?
I also have black long boots I could wear

Pic 2 - With normal black leggings. A bit boring??
Is the colour of the pink layering tee too much? I also have a white one I could wear.

Pic 3 & 4 - Black a-line tiered skirt with silver hardware. Worn with black tank and pale pink wool top that ties at back. Have decided against the ankle boots, think I will stick to the black flats. Feeling a bit washed out in this, but have trouble with pairing this skirt with tops as long tops dont look right and I don't have many shorter tops.

Please excuse hair and makeup not done and quality of photos.

Suggestions please ........
or else I fear I will just be wearing my good old jeans

5 & 6, 7 & 8 - what I feel most comfortable & "me" in - my skinny jeans
9 & 10 - sheath dress, although I am more likely to wear this to work
11 & 12 - black dress & pink leggins. Hubby hates the leggings and looking at the photos so do I
13 & 14 - tiered skirt again with black tee tucked in

OK I will stop now ...

Again please excuse hair & makeup - i am looking & feeling exhausted after a run of sicknesses thru the family.

Liss - I love love love your new jacket! You will have fun with this :). From the sillhouette I can see int he pics, I vote for a variation on the first or second look; the ruffly skirt is not my favourite for some reason. Can you retake some pics? Sorry, I know spare time is not something a working mum of 3 has up her sleeve.....

Thanks lynne, I love my new jacket too. Nothing like buying your own birthday present hehe.
I have not had the energy to put on outfit #1 again but you may be able to get a better idea from this old photo.

I like the best nr 9, this dress is so stylish, and grown up in a good sense!:-) But in my opinion wear it better with black tights if black mary janes and moto jacket(I like the jacket, but kind of heavy with bare legs) , if bare legs and withouth the jacket, you can wear some tan pumps, or metallic sandals, too.(as others said, the ruffle skirt does nothing for you here)

I think the skirt is better with black but I would glam up the sheath.

I really like the dresses in 2,9, and 14.. with 9 being my favorite. I don't love them with the moto, but I can understand why you want to wear it.
Of those 3 dresses, I like moto version 1 the best. The lace tights are a great contrast with the moto. I like moto version 10 second best, but I think we can tweak to make it better.
The moto with the grommet skirt is overkill IMO.

I personally would do a more cropped jacket with the dresses, but I LOVE #3! The ruffles/tiers with the moto really rock my world. I also really like photo #5. What a beautiful jacket!

I like #3/4, #7/8 and #13/14. Is this for *your* birthday or just a party you are attending? I'm confused. If it's your party I would go dressier than if it's someone else's big day - then I'd tone it down a notch.

For a blokey 40th I like 8th the best. I like dresses #1 and #9 but am not sure if you would feel as comfortable as in your jeans. That jacket is a killer!

Liss, my faves are #1 (fun, casual, edgy look) and #9 (very flatterring, great fit, and on-trend). As it"s a 40th you'll be going to, my vote is for the dress. Seems most appropriate for the occasion and you said you wanted to dress up, no? Btw...love the jacket.

I like the lace leggings in #1 but would keep it all black and just do a black cami under the dress. My favorites are the ones with the skirt.

Another vote for #2. I like it with that studded skirt, and it's nice to have some color contrast on top. Great jacket by the way!
