Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Help with boots, please

I've never felt very confident about wearing boots. I purchased some last weekend along with other things you've already seen. I don't know if I should keep them -- if they are as versatile as I thought they would be -- or if they work for me. They are tall, which I like. And they are flat -- which I like. Not sure about the silhouette. Do they look sloppy? If I keep, will they work with pants or skirts or dresses?

Also, jeans. I purchased a pair of Joe's and have a lot of doubts about them. My friend told me they were the most flattering jeans she's ever seen me in. I keep having to pull them up in the back, but there is not room to spare anywhere else. I also think they could be longer. Would appreciate your comments on these, too. Also showing two of the tops and a vest that were part of last weekend's shop. Are they keepers?

These are not straight legs, so they don't tuck well. That may make it hard to evaluate. But I thought the boots would show up better against white.

In this picture, I threw them on with a black skirt and a new blouse, which I am also evaluating. Comments?

Here they are with a simple a-line skirt and black blouse:

This is a new blouse with an interesting neckline and tie detail. Keep? The jeans are shown here, too. I am iffy about both of these.

The vest is new, and I think I'm keeping it for sure. The questionable jeans are also shown in this pic. The blouse has been an orphan for a long time.

Ladies, thank you for your guidance and wisdom.

I like the boots. I don't find them sloppy at all. I also like the jeans a lot.

I'll leave the blouse evaluation to others because I have a personal bias against animal print, and I think that interferes with an objective opinion. I will say that I think the tie and the belt might be competing though.

As for the other orphan blouse, I like it. I normally don't like that romantic floofy-poofy poet style at all, but it looks nice with the jeans and the vest.

I'm curious about what you don't like about the jeans? I think they look great.

Hi Kyle,

I love the boots with pants, not so crazy about them with a skirt. Somehow you seem so polished, maybe a more fitted pair would work better with skirts.
I love the romance of the shirt. I like the contrast of the structure of the vest with the poofy blouse. You can carry it off, not everyone could. It is fun and creative IMO. What is wrong with the jeans? If they are comfortable, they look great!

I like the jeans and the boots. What brand are the boots? My black boots are 8 years old and am considering a new pair next month.

Boots - I like them with jeans and with skirts; I think they will work with both; because they are flat and a bit scrunchy, they may work better with casual skirt outfits.

Animal print blouse - really like this on you; I think your style has a lot of flair and this print fits right in and fits you well.

Blouse with tie neck -- I like this blouse also, although I wouldn't belt it; have both the tie and the belt does seem to compete.

Jeans: I think that they look great on you but if you feel uncomfortable in them, that's a reason to reconsider. What fit are they? Mine are Honey fit and are mid-rise; sometimes I have to pull up the front when I sit down -- the Muse is the higher rise but were too curvy for me. Also, I find that I can wear mine with 1-1/2 inch heels (my pumps) but not with my 2" boots (just a little too short for PPL). Since I mostly wear the lower heel, that hasn't been a problem for me, but you might wear higher heels.

Vest -- looks like a keeper to me; fits you well and I think would be very versatile; I really like it with the blouse -- great combination and a new life for an orphan top.

Kyle, you just ooze style! The boots are terrific on you. They look like they fit you perfectly and look great with jeans and skirts.

Love the animal print top with the wide belt. That style looks awesome on you. I love the high neck and the halter style sleeves. I think it is much more flattering that the other sleeveless--the one with the neck tie.

Your vest looks great with the poet top. Very hip and stylish! Love that you rescued an orphan!

The jeans look good too. I'd be wary of any jeans that you have to pull up. I bought a pair of Stellas or Mias or something that are too low in the back and wearing them drives me nuts because I'm constantly adjusting. Seems like there are lots of choices in the Joe's Jeans price range--I wouldn't settle for something that isn't comfortable.

Kyle, you look so good in everything! You have such a great style.

The boots look great on you. I would wear them with skinnies tucked in ( or your new black leggings-like pants), or with more casual skirts, like denim or corduroy.

The jeans: I think the fit is amazing! Maybe they just need a tiny nip in at the waist?

I love both the animal print blouse and the vest. Gorgeous! The tie-neck blouse is pretty, but I think I would prefer it tucked into a pencil skirt, not belted.

Woohoo! More fab Kyle style! Here's my 2 cents:

o First look – KILLER. You stepped straight out of Vogue. Love the boots with the white pants. You wear that look VERY well.

o Animal print blouse is fab. I like the boots with skirts too, but would probably prefer the look with a more casual skirt. Tweed perhaps?

o The black shirt needs a belt to complete the look. Perhaps the skirts could be a wee bit longer.

o Gorgeous other blouse! Jeans fit really well but are indeed a tad short.

o Beautiful waistcoat and necktie blouse!

Kyle, are those the boots that cuff? Will you ever wear them cuffed with skirts? Just curious how that looked. Anyway, here are my thoughts:

I like the boots with the white pants as well and think if you can find a skinny pair of white pants it would look even better (or white clam diggers?).

I really like the animal print blouse on you. I think the boots might look better cuffed with this outfit?

I like the boots with that style skirt as well. It looks nice with the black hose.

I'm not really a fan of the second animal print shirt. I love the tie detail at the neck but I'm not crazy about the look of the shirt with a belt. Maybe try as Tanya suggested and tuck it into a skirt?

The jeans look great, can you have the waist altered? I also think your heels are too high for the pant length. Come to think of it, do you ever wear flats :)?

I like the look of the vest with the orphan top. Very nice!

Overall, good purchases. Why do you think the boots won't be as versatile as you had hoped? They definitely emit a more casual vibe.

Kyle

You look so good!

I have the Joe jeans Muse in mid rise and I love them. I think the wash is called perry? I have dedicated mine to flats because of the length.

Don't keep them tho if you have to keep pulling them up in back. I know how that is from buying low rise and I do not like it either.
