Help! What length for linen wide pants?

I found these used 100% linen wide pants that I think may be useful for summer. They are way too long but where should they fall? Or should I forget about shortening them and donate?
Sorry about the bad photos and my I combed hair and clingy top. I would wear these with flats and either semi tuck a top or wear a cropped boxy one over a tucked cami. Pinning is bad. Only have 6 pins.

I love the pockets on the front on these pants and they fit you really well. I'm not good on lengths but you should keep these pants - great find!!

Ack! My response disappeared. Thank you Bonnie and Angie. They are very wide on my legs from hips all the way down. Lots of fabric. Wearing them with a boxy wide top would probably overwhelm me. Bonnie I liked those details too.

I like them better as full lengths. They're basically palazzos, too wide to crop, especially with your gorgeously delicate ankles. I'd probably keep them -- it's hard to find 100% linen pants that aren't drawstring or elastic waist! I'd style them like a maxi skirt -- fitted tank top and a cropped jacket, etc.

I like La Pedestrienne's ideas about styling them. It reminds me of some Seventeen Magazine advice I read long ago: "Balance a billowy skirt with a tiny top."

They spoke to you, so I vote outfit labbing them and see what happens. I wonder how they would be with a chunky sandal with a heel. Cork might be a fun natural element to pair with the linen.

If you keep them, I'd keep them full length so they grace the floor. They might be hard to pull off with a flat, though? What about a platform sandal?

I like them. La Ped has a great idea about styling them as a maxi skirt. I have a pair of wide legged linen pants that hit my ankle bone that I wear like a maxi skirt. I never realized that was what I did until she said that.
A cork sandal with a wedge would look nice too.

I'm not sure. I do like the waist treatment that's not gathered. A HEWI.
I always have a vision of breezy linen pants like in the Resirt collections but since will always wear flats for that type of outfit, it's shtumpier. They're too straight and thick for the real palazzo
look. They're more of the " painter's pants" look. I'd like them more fitted though the posterior.
I think it depends on the fabric, actually. If this is a very cool hot weather find to be covered but breezy like for vacation and casual with sneaks and fun summer colors, more comfy than jeans, then full length. For me I would want a higher- waist so that full length with flats and tucked or short top would give me closer to the 1/3 - 2/3 look.

Ive had pants much like these successfully altered to remove excess fabric. So, perhaps worth checking with your tailor & alterations specialist.

Thank you all for your solutions for these pants. The fabric is something that would be hard to find these days, a substantial linen that is soft and smooth. If DDIL does not want them, you have convinced me to tinker with them or at least take them to a tailor to see what can be done to get a better fit.

I'd go for full length, skimming the floor. Longer than you have them pinned here.

I would try it at the first length or even a tad shorter to make them sort of dramatic culottes.

Thank you, Elizabeth and Shevia. I like the look of elegant floor sweeping wide pants ( they would be that as they are if I could wear heels), but at 70 years old and with bones like Swiss cheese, I worry about tripping, which could be life changing. I'm leaning toward narrower and shorter like culottes if it is not too expensive.
Has anyone done or seen a hack done on linen?

Joy, I don't think the silhouette looks that current. They don't fit through the hip like current culottes do. (Also, current styles tend to be a bit higher waisted, I think, though this is less of an issue in my view.) I'm with Angie for this reason. If I were going to shorten pants like this, I would find it hard to do; I would want a friend to mark the hem (with a ruler stood on end on the floor) so that it was straight. Using the existing hem as a guide won't necessarily work, because you're taking off so much. That said, I think the length in 3 or maybe an inch shorter, would be nice for wide-leg crops on you.

I "kinda" liked them Joy... They seem a nice fit at the waist but a bit too wide lower down. I don't like them cropped as they definitely make your ankles look far too thin. Shorts?! xx

Thank you, Jenni. You are right. They do make my ankles look too thin. I don't wear shorts at over 70 years old.
