I personally went with some 4.5 inchers from Aldo as my nude heels, but they are definitely not close to 8 hour shoes, even with cushy inserts. xD
I would say go for some nude pumps, particularly ones that match your skin tone fairly closely. I think nude pumps are so versatile, look so good and are just really classy.
I had a lot of trouble finding my perfect pair because I was very particular with the shade-- since I have darker skin, a lot of the nude shoes I found were too light and more blush/eggshell-coloured for me. Trying on some shoes that were not actually classified as nude, but more of a tan or brown was really helpful in finding better tones. My pair is also patent, which I don't find restricts versatility at all. I actually think I prefer the patent more than I would a matte pair!
Aldo has a lower heeled round toe nude pump in a shade that's exactly the same as the pair I have, and its the best shade I've found for my skin tone so far. I've heard other people really love the Ann Taylor perfect pumps, and someone recently posted about some Target pumps that come in nude. Try department stores too if you can-- I live in Canada so can't give you specific stores, but I know one of our big department stores carries a line that really does have a perfect pump-- perfect heel height and width, perfect toe shape and perfect cushioning. xD
So yeah, I would say try to look for something that's as simple as you can and something that matches your skin tone fairly closely. I think I went a little darker in lieu of a little lighter and that worked for me.
