Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Help me pick career fair/interview outfit! :)

Hi everyone,
So, I have a career fair to go to tonight and a job interview tomorrow morning. I basically have tomorrow sorted out - it will be this outfit with a longer pearl necklace doubled up: http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....030065.jpg

I was debating between shoes with this picture, but I the pointy ones are REALLY pointy and they work best with pants. They are comfy tho...

Anyway, I have an interview the next morning, and I'm still not sure what to wear... Unfortunately, i don't have a suit, which would be a nice option. however, they're not really required in the construction industry, so i won't appear underdressed by any means.

So, here are my options so far...

Black vest + belt: http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....030062.jpg

Black vest, no belt: http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....030063.jpg

Blue vest + belt: http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....030064.jpg

I could also do blue vest w/o belt, but my photographer got bored. :)

So, do any of these options look like a winner?

Shell -- I vote for the blue vest belted; my second choice is the black vest belted. You look very professional. Good luck with the interview!

i vote for the blue vest belted; you look stylish and professional at the same time :). i wore a suit to my first career fair but i was so nervous and so worried i'd be late that i was sweating buckets throughout my interview and the interviewer had to offer me some tissues :\

Without looking at what anyone else said, I also picked blue vest belted. You look great! Did you change your hair color?

I also think you could wear tall boots with a small heel with the outfit given our insanely cold weather today!

It's a toss up between the blue vest belted and the black vest unbelted.

The belt makes the outfit look more stylish and the beltless makes you look sleeker and more sophisticated. I guess it depends on the kind of job interview. For a law office, I'd go w/out the belt, for a fashion type job, I'd go with the belt. For a construction company--I'm not sure what the job itself is, but I'd probably have a little fun and wear the belt.

I'm in the minority but I like the black vest with the belt. The shoes are cute, but I adore the pointy toed pumps in the first pic, so I'd wear those (if you don't have boots - boots would be practical if it's cold). With the black vest, if you accidentally spill coffee because you're nervous, nobody will notice (see I think of everything!)

But just to confuse things... if you go with tall black boots, then I'd go with the blue vest instead.

Good luck!

That's exciting, Shell! Good luck. Remember you're assessing them as a place to work, too.

I vote for the black vest belted. You look just fabulous in that. I like the blue vest, but feel the darker look is more interview appropriate.

My vote is also for black vest belted. I like the blue vest belted too, but I agree with Alecia about the darker look being more interview appropriate.

I love your outfit for the career fair. You look great in all your outfits. I think the belt really ties things together. Good luck!

Black vest belted. I'm guessing that for the construction industry you don't want to look too girly. Good luck with the interview.
