Help me decide the fate of my old trench coat

What do you ladies think? Toss or keep? Does it look ridiculous? It really is fairly old, although there is nothing technically "wrong" with it.

It looks like it fits you very well on top. Is there a lot of flare (out to the sides) on the bottom? It's a bit hard to tell with the lighting. If so, I wonder if the bottom could be tailored a bit to make it more streamlined and straighter. That's all I would suggest. Otherwise it is such a classic item if it's in good shape I don't see why you wouldn't still wear it.

viva - it does have lots of flare. I'm guessing it would be very difficult and/or very expensive to tailor. And as old chic pointed out, it does look better in motion.

I don't think the flare is necessarily bad -- I think mine has some flare too. I wear it open a lot too, which mitigates the flare.

And I like old chic's point about motion. Keep and wear the flare!!!

I think it looks great! Especially with waist definition coming in a bit more (in flowy things). I really like the flare as it reminds me of fit and flare shirt dresses.

I think it looks great! A well-fitting trench is a classic. I say as long as it's in good shape and still works for you, it's a keeper.

I think it's worth keeping too. It looks like it's in good condition (although hard to tell when something's black). And the fit is spot-on. Finally, it doesn't look dated.

Yes, definitely keep. It looks lovely on, and when belted, it accentuates your figure beautifully. The only thing I'd suggest is to maybe try tying the belt a bit differently, which could help you feel a bit more modern with it. Lately I've been using the method shown near the end of the video on this page, and I like the neater effect it has.

Another vote to keep. I very much prefer trenches with a bit of flare like yours has because it emphasizes your waist even more. I think it looks great on you!
