I have a dance coming up with my friend and I DONT know what to wear. She is wearing that dress and Black Shoes. And Ill i have planned is my bowtie (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1.....e&...) Please help and i want to wear a vest and maybe brown shoes but idk

Jim, I'm useless with men's clothes but good on you for your effort. Other members may be able to give you some advice! I think dark charcoal pants/suit could be nice and less predictable than black, and brown shoes I find work with everything and look very rich with gray. If it's quite formal though, black is pretty foolproof.

The green velvet bow tie and the matching green velvet dress are awesome. I'd go with black shoes to be really pulled together, you and your friend. Is your dance very formal? I'd say a green or black waistcoat (vest), black pants. I'd skip a formal jacket or take it off right away...

Hi Jim, and welcome! Can you tell us a bit more? I'm wondering about your age bracket, what kind of dance, the weather where you live, and the clothing norms where you are (conservative? hip and trendy? big-city sophisticated? down-home?)

I would suggest checking out the outfits in the men's sections at, say, J Crew and Banana Republic (neither crazy trendy nor middle-aged) for inspiration.
