'Happy Moments' May 15th

So you know the drill for this regular post my fab friends...share your good news, happy times, gratitudes, blessings...and lets try to use our positive thinking muscles.

Well, for me it's been a lovely week. I started off by having a birthday last Monday and I had so many good wishes sent my way by everyone on here, so thank you all so, so much!

I'm feeling so grateful for the gift friendship that YLF keeps on bringing into my life, because I got to meet a Jane from the forum yesterday. We met up at the V&A to see an exhibition showcasing all sorts of undergarments through the centuries. We saw such lovely examples of craftsmanship, including lace work, embroidery, corsetry etc. Just stunning. Afterwards, Jane and I had a bite to eat, then we hit the shops and we both came home with something new to wear. Fun times!

Other things that gave me joy last week were great meals, getting a fair bit of gardening done, seeing my dad get thrilled at the idea of a new greenhouse for his garden at the grand age of 90.

Oooooh! Diane, that sounds like a wonderful exhibit. Aren't textile and historical clothing exhibits the best? Well, sometimes the gems/jewelery displays can be pretty fab too!

My happy moments this week were spent in the garden, and provided gratis by Nature. I got my Mother's Day roses planted, and most of my pots done up. Magnolias are in full bloom, and the Lilacs are getting ready to go next. The cooler weather we are experiencing is prolonging the bloom time of the tulips. A flock of Cedar Waxwings have been spending time in my neighbor's Apple tree which is right in front of my kitchen window! There is so much beauty...

My week started out with my daughter home from NYC for a few days which was lovely. Lunch with an old neighbor who at 80 is still the one of the busiest people I know! My younger son came home from college on Thursday which was exciting ( not going to talk about the mountain of "stuff" that also came home ). He is only home for a week before he heads of to Connecticut for an internship this summer. That evening we went out to celebrate his 21st birthday and for him to have his" first legal drink" at a local bar where my husband and all my other kids had theirs. Family tradition !
Another happy moment this week was a visit I had with a friend who is my age who just had open heart surgery. She is finally starting to feel better which was lovely to see

Agreed, Carla, I love those kind of exhibitions. I also love Tulips (I know I've said before). Like you I've been enjoying the Spring colour that's growing everywhere. Your garden looks great! You definitely have a magic touch with plants.

Gail, it's nice to connect with family and friends isn't it...I can imagine the 'stuff' your son bought home, lol! Your friend must have had a tough time of it. Nice to know she's picking up now.

I wish I could have been at the V&A with you two -- what a wonderful exhibit that must have been.

My happy moment this morning is being shared with Mr. Xtabay and our 2 cats, Mickey and Walter. It's rainy and cool, which I am appreciative of after suffering through a 10-year drought. It was really awful to have little, if any, rain for so long, to see the lakes nearly vanish, see the trees suffering and dying, and animals struggling to survive. I was actually saving the water that ran while the shower warmed up -- every drop seemed precious. Scary times. BUT, the drought ended a few months ago, the lakes are full again, everything is green and growing, the birds are rejoicing, and so am I. Like Runcarla, I'm a gardener, so here are some shots from what's blooming in my yard right now. As God as my witness, I will never, ever complain about rain again!

Happiest moment: I got thru the DMV (department of motor vehicles)!!! There's no joy like getting that over with.

It would have been great to have you there Xtabay! What great names for your cats. I'm glad that you, Mr Xtabay, plus Micky and Walter are enjoying a spell of rain after a long drought. Your garden is looking gorgeous!

Rachy, I take it that it's the equivalent of the MOT in the UK...I dread the one for my car later this year...Lol! So glad your car passed.

Good to hear everyone has got a lot to be thankful for!

I had a nice week....slow & relaxed...just what I needed. I met up with friends and enjoyed delicious meals in good company.

Sunday was family day and we loved staying home with the dogs. It's been brutally hot - 43 to46 deg C, and stepping out of the AC house feels like stepping into purgatory.

Evening aren't much cooler, but we did take the dogs for a quick walk and Emma met a boy Beagle her age & size! His name is Simba. Well...he wasn't as enthusiastic as her, and she kinda scared him a bit with all her wagging and dancing But they sure looked cute! Emma is the one in the black leash.

PS: I'm beginning to think Emma may be the most hyper beagle puppy ever. But I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing....I like bold, happy, exuberant dogs who don't know fear of many things.

Those beagles are so cute! Their markings look similar too.

It sounds HOT. I can't imagine such fierce heat.

Thanks for empathizing, Jane & Di. The heat is a real B*tch! I feel dehydrated all the time....like my skin & hair are drying out.

What's worse, all that heat makes you want to drink something cold and sweet to feel refreshed...while making it really hard to exercise....so you're just guzzling down calories despite not having much of an appetite for solid foods. It's no wonder I have a belly bulge.

Diane! You and Jane look so fab! There's no happier moment than a YLF meetup!

I love the garden and doggie photos!! And amen to getting through the DMV!

We went on a hot air balloon ride on Saturday and the happiest moment was getting back on terra firma! It was fun but unexpectedly scary!! It was really fun watching them inflate the balloon! And we landed in somebody's back yard and he came running out to take photos and was really nice and chatted with us while they packed it up on the back of the truck. Big fun!

WOW, lots of happy moments. Doggies, hot air balloon rides, cats, gardens, the DMV, tea (and hopefully some cake). GLORIOUS.

Friends of ours just got engaged, and although we can't go to the wedding in Egypt in June, we hosted an elegant dinner party for them last Saturday night. I cooked up a storm with sous chef Sam, and it was a great success. Lots of raving about the food, and lots of laughs all evening long.

I am enjoying reading everyone's happy moments.

DH went to pick up DD19 this weekend at college and they are 2 hours from home now. I haven't seen her since January and am beside myself with excitement.

So many happy moments. I think I've over shared alright. My nephew and neice graduated with their Bachelor Degree and Master Degree respectively.

So I'll share what I saw instead. Murals are beginning to be my hobby of choice this year.
