Gosh, I didn't realise it had been quite a while since my last HM post...oh well!

I hope it's given you all plenty of time to have had some good moments to share here. Lets get those positive vibes going around YLF by thinking of gratitudes and good news, and even the tiniest of things count like just enjoying a quite moment having a cuppa in the garden while enjoying the sun. I'd love to hear about it.

Me first as per usual... well, I've been getting my head down with sewing projects for myself because I have my Greek hol coming up next weekend! I'm finally done and now I just have some organising and packing to do, yay!

I've been enjoying our dry warm weather and getting a few walks in...it hasn't been as sunny as I hoped but very pleasant for the UK, so I can't grumble and the forecast is good for this week.

I spent a lovely day out with my son on Thursday last week. We had shopping to do for him and it was one of those days when everything seemed to go well...the roads were quiet, we parked easily, we got bargains wherever we went and finished with a yummy meal at McDonalds. DS came home with two new tee shirts and three pairs of casual shoes...all at great prices...he said he really enjoyed himself

A couple of nice things are planned for this week...a haircut for me and visiting with mum and dad. Mum and dad will be looking after our cat Bilbo while we are on holiday...I'm so grateful for that.

DH and I enjoyed time with both DS1 and DS2 and DS2's girlfriend.

Enjoying, but somewhat burned out on, the Olympics, as they have been on at our home almost 24/7.

Had a wonderful swim and then dinner out last night. Then we went to a new ice cream place and learned a lot about how ice cream is made. Enthusiastic owner and employee had us taste away and shared about their business.

Organized a drawer.

Had the weirdest thing happen. DS2's girlfriend was painting (on canvas) and at one distance/angle it looked mid to pale blue, white and pearly gray. From another it looked medium to dark blue and plum. It was the second, but I wanted a scientist to explain light, refraction, whatever it was that caused the drastic difference.

Satisfaction as each additional NAS K/R decision is made. And realizing why.

Realizing I love learning things on the computer. The same way I loved reading as a kid. Giving myself permission to consider this a good thing.

Diane G -Thanks for these posts. I like having the time to reflect. And be appreciative. And hear what you and others say. Have a wonderful trip. I went to Greece for the first time a few years ago. It's so beautiful/interesting/historical and the beaches are fabulous.

How nice to have some time with your children Diane and Chris.

I've enjoyed that this past weekend too. Did lots of cooking with them (I tried out a couple of recipies on my own too) , and loved also seeing them do creative stuff like trying to play popular songs on the piano, dancing and origami.

DH was away on Sat at a conference so we had "girl time" and watched a movie - The secret of Nimh. DD8 has just had the rats of Nimh read to her at school so I was treated to a long discussion/ monologue of how it was different (and worse than) the book! Just my sort of bookwormish favorite talk!

Yesterday was the most beautiful sunny day. Went to 21 degrees which is the warmest for a long time.Probably a nice summer temp for England, Dianne. I took the kids down to our local park/river area (which was packed; everyone had the same idea!) and they played around and enjoyed being outside while I did my 20 minute jog.

Had a lovely day yesterday. We had some friends over for the day. DH was in a musical group in his 20s and the band members still keep in touch. We get together once a month. The guys play music and the women chat, go for a walk and make dinner. It all turned out very well.

Thanks for participating on each HM post Barbara Dian, I really appreciate it. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed time with children and their friends...how strange about the painting colours! Ice cream and drawer tidying is great too (I've been doing a spot of tidying too). Great that you've been getting some success in NAS and I'm with you on computers...I learn so much and so enjoy interacting with others too.

I'm glad you had some quality kids time too Anne. Sounds like a fun day! You're right about those temps btw, that sounds like a very pleasant if coolish English Summers day

Diane, I enjoyed reading about your fun day with DS, and that you got to sew for yourself for a change. And your holiday capsule for Greece certainly put a smile on my face! Excited about your haircut, and Bilbo has the best grand parents.

I've been enjoying our hot, sunny weather, yoga, lots of walks, and being with my boys (Greg & Sam) amidst an unexpectedly busy August with work and friends. I will have to wait till January for things to quieten down. No rest for the wicked - unless you pack me in your travel capsule to Greece.

Oh, yes. LOVE watching the Olympics despite the fact that I am not sporty. The Equestrian events were sublime.

Diane, very happy to hear about your happy moments with your son and your upcoming holiday.

We've had a huge relief from the heat with several days of cooling rain. The temp. yesterday was an unbelievable 72F as a high - in August! More rain expected this week and the birds and wildlife are visibly excited.

I thought I had to go for jury duty but was visited last night by our local Police Chief to inform me the trial had been cancelled - so nice of them to stop by personally and let me know as they didn't seem to have my phone number on file. And I must admit a relief not to spend the day in a dark courtroom.

Don't work too hard now Angie...though it sounds like you're getting your rejuvenating yoga and walks with Sam, so that's good. I may juuuust be able to squeeze you in my case to Greece next to my sunscreen

Though I have been enjoying the remarkably hot summer we have been experiencing, I am aware that the drought-like conditions have been very hard on the lawns, gardens, and farmer's crops. So, I was quite grateful for the big soak we got on Tuesday. More rain is forecast, and it will be welcomed.

A family member who lives in Seattle won some tickets to a Seahawks game in November, but they are not into football. They offered the tickets to us. DH has loved the SH ever since I met him nearly 40 years ago. Unfortunately I can't go due to a vacation blackout at work during November and December. I did encourage DH to go, and bring one of the boys. There will be a coin toss for who gets to go, but the tickets have been accepted and a trip is in the works. Though I am not going, I am sharing in the excitement of the menfolk. When they learned the seat assignment (6th row, 30 yard line) there was much rejoicing!

I am grateful to share in the excitement of my loved ones, and to borrow joy from you all who share your happy experiences.

Diane, thank you for these HM posts. Although without TV ( and the Olympics!) and very little internet while moving, we are in our new-to-us home and enjoying the cooler, dryer weather of the high altitude. I am happy that our Kansas house is under contract and may be sold if inspection goes well this weekend. That will be a huge relief. Mags, the little sheepdog is getting adjusted and was even excited when her kennel was unloaded.
