Happy Canada Day!

... to Brianna, Michelle, ChristineB, BLB and all the lovely Canuck ladies on here. Sorry for any that I've missed!

I am off to celebrate in central London with my boyfriend and some Canadian friends later. Should be fun if I can stand the heat- it's 32 degrees here, and as an Ottawa native, I'm really not wired for this. Give me a snowstorm over a heat wave any day ;)

Anyway, have a lovely day everybody! If you're doing something special, outfits please!

Happy Canada Day!

We will be heading off to a backyard party this afternoon. It is cloudy here in Toronto this morning, hopefully it will clear up by the afternoon. However, I will take this weather over snow storms any day, I am a tropical girl at heart!

I will be wearing white capris and a red and white patterned shirt with red patent flip flops I found at the end-of-season sales last summer for $3.00!

OOOH, another Torontonian! Hello, Stylin! :)
And thanks for the festive wishes, Elle. :) I'm taking advantage of the day by seeing friends whose schedules usually clash with mine. Just got back from brunch with the girls. No big plans for me tonight; my guide dog is totally spooked by fireworks! :) Have fun with your fellow ex-pats... and bring on cooler weather! :) (although I really can't complain now, it's 21C and sunny in Toronto at the moment. Denim clams and sleeveless tops, hurrah!).

I'm a Canadian all alone in America. No-one to celebrate Canada Day with. *boo hoo*

Ele - if you are in London on Canada Day, make sure you head on over to the Maple Leaf pub! Actually, that's probably where you are going since every Canadian in London will be there....

Thanks! We had a great time at the parade we went to yesterday, and the weather was just right for us - 23.

All day my 3yo was singing "Oh Canada, I love Canada" to the tune of the national anthem. It was so cute. All of us also wore Canada flag T-shirts from Old Navy. Not really YLF approved, but I though it was appropriate for the holiday.

Happy Canada Day (one day late)! I didn't manage to dress in red and white, but Chickadee and I walked down to Granville Island, which was overflowing with people carrying flags, wearing patriotic clothes (some of them even looked quite stylish!) and generally having fun. There were musicians, street performers (we saw flamenco dancers on stilts) and other fun things going on. We picked up portobello mushrooms, baby potatoes and Terra Bread buns (Angie, do you know Terra Breads? If not you have to go there and get their fig and anise bread when you're in Vancouver next, there's one on Granville Island and one on West 4th across from Safeway) for our Canada Day barbecue. We also got enormous, still alive spot prawns from Fisherman's Wharf and grilled them up. They were like lobster, only better.

Angie, I used your salad dressing as marinade for our portobello mushroom burgers and it worked really well (I added a clove of garlic).

We had Canadian microbrew and I sang Oh Canada to the Chickadee and told her all about why she was such a lucky girl to be born in this country.

Brianna that is a cute story. I think Chickadee is lucky to be born to you and your husband in lovely Canada.
