Halloween!

I feel like I haven't had much in the way of interesting outfits to post lately- it seems like all I'm wearing lately are work clothes (which amounts to either black pants and a required t-shirt- ugh!- or black pants and a collared shirt with an apron... all very boring). I hope to post some stuff soon that I need advice on, but in the meantime I can share my Halloween costume! I've always been a fan of Japanese culture and I've had an affection for geisha girls since I read Memoirs of a Geisha back was I was 14, so I finally got the chance to be a geisha for Halloween! My mom and I chose the pattern and fabric together, she was kind enough to sew the kimono and obi, and I made my hair ornaments and did the hair and makeup (it was all a bit complicated, but I think it paid off).
Front of costume:

Back (with the lovely bow):

Hair and makeup- I made a less complicated version of kanzashi by wiring craft beads on a hair comb with fake flowers, painted some chopsticks gold, and on the other side are some fake orchids:

I absolutely loved wearing this costume! If only I could dress like this every day.

Wow! That's amazing! I love it. You put a lot of work into that. I hope you can wear it again for another dress-up opportunity.

INCREDIBLE. Love your costume! You’ll have to throw your own costume party so that you can wear this outfit again.

Wow! I am thoroughly impressed! It's almost too bad that it's a costume because it is so beautiful. It should be worn for a special occassion.

Thanks! And nope, it wasn't me that made it- it was my mom. I definitely don't have those sewing skills! I just made the hair ornaments and did my hair/makeup. I agree, it's so pretty I want to have a reason to just wear it again.
