Hair Advice -- Like This?

Hello lovely ladies,

I have been struggling with my hair style and am not sure what action to take! Here are some hair photos from the last couple or three years. Does any one look better than the rest?? Modifications? Or should I try something altogether different? Your suggestions greatly appreciated! Please disregard any of my goofy expressions! haha

Ah, hair! I am consumed (obsessed?) with the best hairstyle, haircut, hair color, etc.! I say this with a smile, morethanbeige, but it's very relevant and important, because that is part of your image, right?

First, I want to say, that I love your hair color. It's very pretty. Secondly, you look like you have a nice full head of hair. I had a bob for a very long time and due to genetics (thanks my loving family!), my hair is thinner and finer as I've aged. I also have a receding hairline, so I opted for a short pixie cut, which I love for its look and ease.

Are you presently highlighting your hair or are these natural highlights? I like highlights that frame the face and yours seems to be doing that. I also like the length of your current cut. Have you had it shorter or longer and how did you feel about that?

I'll let others check in here, but right now, I'm seeing a very nice hairstyle on you.

You have stunning hair! I see a shorter length at the back with lots of choppy layers all over the show and more of a side swept fringe as opposed to bangs.

You are so pretty and your hair is your crowning glory. If the hair will behave in the style that Angie suggests, it sounds like a great direction to go!

ETA: Because, as we know, Angie is the Goddess of hair advice! Or at least that's my feeling!

Wow, thanks. I am shocked at the lovely comments. I never seem to know what to do with my hair and almost always feel uncomfortable with the way it looks.

@Angie -- thanks for your insights. I'm not quite sure what that would look like. Would there be any pic to reference?

@Vicki -- yes, my hair is highlighted. I used to wear my hair longer and then for a while I cut it short and tried many cuts, but went through one traumatic cut after another. haha

I like the shorter length of 3 and 5 (maybe even shorter) and ditto the longer, sideswept bangs.

I like your photo #3 the best. It has the most up to date look with the blunt cut ends. A longer bang to one side could be really flattering on you. It is also one of the easiest changes to make. You have nice little facial features, and therefore could go pretty short if you wanted.
Here are a few ideas, but you could do a search on a "short to long bob."

Ditto what Angie said. You have beautiful hair and a style that highlights the volume and softness around you face would be lovely.

Lucky you, you have thick hair and a pretty face, as everyone is saying. I like #4 because it seems more layered and piece-y. I think two concepts that could improve your look are:
1. break it up (thus Angie's choppy layers)
2. style it less towards your face and more away from your face--this could include Angie's sideswept bangs, less curling in towards your cheeks and jaw, and perhaps taking some of the hair at the top of your head and pushing it back.

I think that implementing these two concepts into your hairstyle would update your style and also would highlight your beautiful face.

Actually, I really like your hair style and I know it is hard to find a good style with thick hair. I do like the suggestions of more of a side-swept bang. Just venturing a guess, but if you get shorter and more choppy you will probably have to make good friends with a flat iron to contain the volume. It could look great though, if you feel like a change.

I agree with all the others if you're not looking to go short, have you considered a sharply angled bob? Long in front,short in back w/sideswept bangs? My hair is similar to yours in thickness and it's worked well for me (with the help of a flat iron!) you do have beautiful hair and features

My favourite is #3 and I think the model pic is good, not too choppy at all. For an update, I like the idea of moving away from bangs and more towards a side-swept look. I also think less roundness, less poufiness for an updated look.

I like your new pictures (6 and 7). They are not too choppy.

another thing in the new pictures is that the models have "chunkier" highlights. In addition to the actual cut, think about adding having wide chunky streaks of lowlights added, in addition to chunky streaks of brighter highlights.

I did this recently, and I liked the change! There are about 3 colors of highlights in my hair, some dark lowlights, some red=toned, and some blonde. I also shortened the back.

I like the way you look in #2 - soft. I think that the style has more fullness near the bottom and longer layers. Maybe more highlighting then? You could also go very short with your lovely features. But when you have nice hair you can definitely keep it longer.

I think #7 would look lovely on you. It's similar to what you've got, but a little more edgy. You've got pretty features that suit longish hair.

Your very pretty and have very pretty hair so you probably can't go wrong no matter what you do. As someone else mentioned I think having the hair swept more away from your face and neck would look good. It would be a more open look. It's nice as is but covers quite a bit of you. Do you dare do a pixie? I think it would be awsome on you.

I love your hair color and agree that it might be fun for you to try a longer bang. I do like your current style with the shorter bangs across your forehead but I just think the asymmetry of a sideswept style (like your photo #7, I really like that one) looks so modern and pretty. I also think the choppy or piece-y-ness, whatever you want to call it, like in #6-7 would add nice contrast to your look, since your light hair and light skin are a pretty neutral background. Whether you bring the contrast up with color (add in another darker color like in #6) or with a piece-y-er style (shorter lengths in front, more abrupt changes rather than gradient from short to long)---I think either way would look great on you.

I most prefer #3 on you. Does your hair dry naturally straight or do you have to work on it? The model pics are highly dependent on super straight hair and strategic highlights. I think both would work for you, but might need more work. Flipped up would be a nice alternative too (although more work on your part again) Your hair looks similar to mine and the shorter I got the poofier it gets so I wear it longer to weigh it down for a smoother look.

You do have very pretty hair, and it looks nice in all your pictures.
I'd love to see your hair a little more tousled looking and a little less "done". Like, after it's dried and styled rub a little texturizing paste on it and "mess" it up a little.

I love the look of picture #7 as so many others do, but I have to wonder how bangs like that work in real life. Would they always be flopping in your face and driving you crazy? Or would you have to spray the heck out of them and then they'd look old-lady helmet-y and ruin the look? I think some looks work better on models in pictures than they do for normal people.

The last two are simply gorgeous but from the originals I really liked 4.

Whenever I see ladies with the newest pics hairstyles they are always tucking it back and pinning it back as it drives them nuts in their eyes. Would this bother you?
