So, for those ladies that had babies, how long before the shoes that fit you pre maternity fit post? With DD1, it only took a few weeks. I know every pregnancy is different. . .

I'm no help here because my shoes always fit. My feet didn't get bigger with any of my pregnancies although they did swell a little by the end of the day.

I would think your feet would start getting smaller as all the extra fluid leaves your body (I had the worst night sweats post partum).Good luck and I hope they fit again soon!

My feet got swollen with the pregnancies plus I gained a lot of weight. After the pregnancies I ended up with half size larger feet. It wasn't until I lost the weight that I was able to return to my " before children" shoe size. I do aim for wide width and for shoes that are comfortable, unlike what I used to do "bc".

Hmm, I don't want to be discouraging but I do have friends whose shoe size did change permanently ... how long post-partum are you? I wonder if you could buy or borrow a pair for comfort's sake for a while ... is it a big shoe size difference now?

I went from a comfortable 5 to a 6 or even a 7 after having kids. They have never gone back! I read somewhere that the size increase has to do with looser ligaments etc as a result of the hormone Relaxin. No idea if that's true or not...

oh Thistle...I went from 6.5/7 to size 8. Over the last few years I feel I am back to my regular size...but my babies are 26 and 24 years old....

I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I am one of those ladies who experienced permanent shoe size change... I went from 7/7.5 to 8/8.5 postpartum (and both pregnancies were in my thirties, so I wasn't still 'growing''!) But I would give it a few months & just buy a pair or two for short term comfort. You may still have fluid storage going on, especially if you're nursing. My whole foot just got longer & bigger, which probably means all the tendons relaxed, allowing the bones to spread & settle.

Mine got larger and wider but just slightly. Earlier, I could wear Size 8.5 but now am firmly in the 9 camp and require a Wide or double-Wide width. Pregnancy in 30s with very little weight gain, so it isnt' residual weight. Post-partum I put on 10lbs but that didn't change my shoe size (on top of what pregnancy did).

I have preeclampsia with both od my kids and my feet looked like my knees fell to the floor. It took almost 8 months for the swelling to go down even though my weight got back to normal in about 6 months. How swollen did you feet get? Does the swelling go down in the morning and when you put your feet up?

I'm also one of those people whose shoe size never went back to its pre-pregnancy state. I didn't have swelling during pregnancy because I wore compression stockings everyday; in my case it was the spreading of the bones and ligaments that Hil mentioned. I went from being a 7 to 7.5 or 8 depending on the brand. It was mostly the width! (Also, my ribcage went from a 32 to a 34, while my breasts went from a full B cup to a slim A after the end of breastfeeding...) But perhaps you could try a wider width in your regular size to see if it helps?

Is the gulp because your hoping you will get back to a certain size or because you have no shoes? Remember reasonably nice-looking, comfortable shoes are important so while you may not load up just now, don't limit yourself to house shoes! Get a couple pair you feel good in.

Thistle I was just starting similar thread I am in my 32 weeks and my shoes are no longer comfortable. I think I have gone up half a size so I was wondering if to buy new shoes☺️

I am gulping as the two pairs of pre maternity shoes I have tried on don't yet fit. I am only 2 months post partum, but they fit last time at this point. And one pair I tried was athletic shoes, the others Tsubo loafers that were an Angie pick.

I have yet to bring more out of storage . . .

I had shoes that never fit again, but only after the first pregnancy. The first did all the permanent changing; after that, my feet were back to normal right after delivery because I stopped retaining water after that.

If it seems close, don't forget a cobbler can stretch your shoes.

Thistle, my shoes size didn't really change noticeably so I didn't have to worry. My problem was my waist band!!

My feet went from size 6 to 7 and have never gone back. Crossing fingers you can wear your favorite shoes again soon.

Pre-pregnancy- 7-7.5 narrowish. Since last pregnancy- 8 -8.5 regular width. My feet did not swell during. I hope that you will be able to wear your shoes soon though. Are you getting back to pre-baby size In general?

I also went up a full shoe size permanently (one child, lost all the weight, feet stayed bigger). Fortunately, I was kind of a minimalist back then.

My feet changed about 1/2 size during both pregnancies and it took about 9 months (and pregnancy weight loss) until they went back to my normal size. So I echo the advice to buy at least one comfy good looking pair in your new size. It's frustrating, I know.

Mine went up a 1/2 size, but I am happy to say that after TWO LONG YEARS, somehow my feet are back to the old size, so I can wear all my old nice shoes. This is the only good thing about not having time (in those first two years) to do a wardrobe edit... I probably "should" have gotten rid of them sooner, but I'm glad I wasn't organized and never got around to it!

Oh no! This is my biggest fear! My feet didn't "grow" the first time; just got swollen the last few months of pregnancy and this time I haven't had trouble with swelling.

I hope for your sake they're just taking a while to shrink back. Maybe you can employ some sort of foot wrapping technique to help them go back (only half way kidding). If they have grown permanently, maybe you can try to get them stretched or use some YLF shoe stretching tricks. Good luck!
