Gold studs for everyday wear - fab or not so much?

My brothers and me wanted to buy my sister earrings for Christmas. She had her ears pierced in fall, so she doesn't have any yet besides those small simple silver colored studs that she got to start with. And some children's earrings back from when she had her ears pierced the first time, but obviously she doesn't want to wear those with almost sixteen.

She definitely doesn't like any bling. I wanted to get her gold earrings because she's rather sensitive and gold would look great on her with the red hair. Unfortunately the choices are either very blingy, old lady or just not special enough.

I found these below in #1, but I'm just not sure. Do you think they work as everyday earrings? The size is similar to the ones in #2 and from far away you just notice that they aren't quite smooth. The facets sparkle a bit. Of course my brothers are no help whatsoever. I don't really want to order anything online, so I have to see what's available in the stores.

I like them too, Astrid. Interesting enough with the facets (I imagine they will reflect the light beautifully) and subtle enough for everyday wear.

I have a 15 1/2 year old DD with pierced ears. She also doesn't like any bling and likes things that are not fussy and are streamlined. She wears a silver stud in her ear - similar to what you have but smooth, no facet.

Thank you all for the input! I think I'm going to go back and get them. I didn't want to go too plain, because I think that's something she can buy for herself later on. Very simple ones don't cost that much. I want them to be something she wouldn't buy for herself. Finding ones that are still subtle enough all the same is difficult. I thought it was interesting how different the selection between gold and silver was, actually.

Astrid, I think it's the perfect gift. I love them. I gave a similar pair to my DD when she was that age (she's about to turn 21) and she still wears them. I'm amazed she didn't lose them. I'm sure your sister will love them.

They're both pretty! And perfect earrings for every day. I think I had something like that when I first got my ears pierced. ( many years ago!) the facets make them just a little bit more special.

I like to wear simple earrings like this for everyday wear too. I switch between small diamonds, small gold hoops, and small pearls.

I really like the cool crinkly texture on those! I'm a big fan of small, slightly unusual neutral studs and have a few pairs I wear a lot.

These look like a wise choice. I wear the same gold earrings everyday.

Sounds like you have already decide to purchase the studs. I have a pair of silver and gold studs with a similar geometric shape, little geodomes. I wear both pair ALL the time. I don't like bling but do like a bit of interest. She will love them and wear them for years. Such a thoughtful gift.

They are very nice. I had my ears pierced when I was 14 (I am 59) and have worn earrings since then. I find studs hurt my ears. I have different sized gold hoops. This may not be an issue. I am known for having sensitive skin.

I love jewelry that can stay with you for years. I have pieces from my teens that I still wear. I think as long as she takes care not to wear them to school when she has sports she'll be fine. That's the only time I ever lost something.

My everyday earrings right now are small pearls, but I don't think pearls would work for her or her style.

She got hers at the body piercer, so the studs she's wearing right now are piercings, not the traditional stud earring with back closure. I hope she will do alright with the traditional ones as long as she only puts them in during the day.
