Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Going from Stilettos to ball park...

Here is my delimma... I am the 32 year old 5 ft hourglass, therefore I ALWAYS wear heels! My hips and thighs are a touch thicker then the rest so the heels (peeptoe or pointed toe) work well, then with with fitted pants, it seems to lenghten my legs. My sons play baseball pretty much year around but are starting the every weekend deal. I of course am the only mother with heels on at the bbfield and would like a new look but dont know where to start...Please advise. I need to be the cool mother without the heels......Thanks!

This is pretty similar to the Lifestyle change thread. It's wise to have your clothing choices match your activities. Heels and grass (or any soft turf) don't mix. I've yet to see a woman walk gracefully in heels over a lawn, and I hate to think of all the beautiful shoes that have been ruined by this.

I wear heels to work and out shopping or out for the evening with hubby. To my kid's sporting eveents, I steer clear of any heel that could possibly dig into the earth. (Or any heel that would be uncomfortable to stand in for an hour or more.) You can wear a chunkier heel, especially in a boot. You could wear sporty track shoes. You could wear low mules or even oxfords. The key is think ahead. Will you be standing? Wll the ground be wet? Will you be able to jump up and cheer--gracefully? Will you have to walk across any soft earth?

Today, I planned my entire outfit around the messy weather and the need to wear appropriate footwear.

I had a similar post recently. I found these cute and comfortable wedge shoes from Clarks. I just got them on Monday and have alread worn them twice this week. They are so comfortable out of the box!

I also suggest wedges. Although, be careful, because you can easily turn an ankle walking on uneven ground with wedges.

You might be more comfortable in flats if you paired them with casual skirts or dresses. An a-line skirt can camouflage your wider hips and thighs so that you don't feel the need for leg-lengthening heels.

I say leave the heels at home when you're at a baseball game cheering on the boys. Stick to stylish flats. Fashion sneakers (non-athletic tennis shoes) are fab, so are boots, wellies and casual ballet flats.

Sandal wedges in a casual style! They don't even have to be that tall, just as long as the shoes have some heel height.

I'm with Angie. A baseball game hardly seems like an event that necessitates any kind of heel. Ballet flats, fashion sneakers,, wellies, and flat sandals are all stylish options. Sliver wedges are good but I wouldn't go for anything high, otherwise you may as well be in heels.

Thank you all so much! Its not at all that I enjoy wearing heels to games, but my friends and family all agree, I look rediculous in any type of flat shoe! I am ordering the shoes Lizky suggested today! Thanks again!
