Glasses, cont.

I ended up going with the Coach glasses. Here is a picture of them (but mine are brown)

I know they're boring, but my choices were very limited. Out of the dozens of glasses I tried, only 2 of them fit well and they looked so similar it didn't really matter which I went for (my mom can vouch for me that I'm not just being silly...I have a VERY narrow face). I really wanted the Ralph Lauren glasses to fit because they were visually the most interesting, but no matter how good they looked on the rack, they just didn't look good on my face. At the very least, these fit closer around my eye than my current glasses do. I wear contacts most of the time anyway, so it's not a huge loss.

But if anyone is still interested in my glasses saga, that's the outcome.

I think that your new glasses are cute. I personally prefer nice clean lines in glasses anyway so these fit the bill.

Maya, I was actually wondering (DH is an optometrist, but I have no experience in helping choose eyewear other than my own trial and error). I really like the glasses you picked out! I don't think they will make a fashion statement on their own but they definitely won't detract from any of your outfits!

I like them--cute and stylish and to the point.

I think they will look really nice on you, and the brown will match your eyes. Plus, didn't you say they had a white inner rim or something? That will add some interest.

Maya, I really like them, the inner coach prints differ them from other plain brown glasses. You'll look great in them.

I can't remember if it was these or the Ann Klein ones that were white on the inside. I know these are white on the inside on the black version but I'm not sure about the brown version and I haven't found a clear picture online. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Maya, are these the glasses?

I can't tell if this is the brown or tortoise shell on my monitor...

Yeah, those are the ones. Wow, I didn't know they came in all those colors. All they had available were black and brown. I wish they had the tortoiseshell. Oh well.

Thumbs up! Do we get to see them on?

Patience, Angie! My lenses have to be special ordered so I will probably get them in a week or maybe the following Monday. I will post a picture forthwith.

I was not blessed with patience, Maya!

Well Angie, if you're really that impatient, I can post this picture. It's very poor quality because I took it with my cell phone and on top of that I blinked, but at the very least you can see how it fit my face...sort of? Well, it will do until I get a clearer picture at least.

Maya, those frames REALLY suit your face! Well done!

Posted 1 year ago

Yay, I'm glad you think so. I didn't think I could wear rectangular frames but these are a little softer and not totally geometric so they work.

Posted 1 year ago

Thank you, Maya. They look fab! This was the type of look that I had pictured for you. In this way, your retro Euro style shall be perfectly complimented on the days that you don't want to sport your beautiful eyes.

I like them a lot even though they're not as detailed as I had wanted. They look a lot better than what I currently have. I think i'll feel a lot less fuddy duddy on those days when my eyes are tired.

I also got a pair of sunglasses, which will also be fun. They are brown on the outside and light blue on the inside with brown lenses. The coloring should make up for the fact that I can't get my prescription made in an oversized style.

Maya, these are very similar in shape to my glasses, except mine are red frames (not a bright red - more of a muted red). Like you, I have a narrow face. Well, not narrow (I actually have quite a round-shaped face) but it is narrow compared to most adults.... as we've discussed, children's frames tend to be better fits.

Shiny, next time you get new frames ask if they have petite frames. Apparently they are increasing in popularity. Ann Klein and Elizabeth Arden both make them.

They're not boring at all Maya! They're elegant and a bit retro, and they accentuate your eyes and face beautifully.

Got my glasses today.

Good news:

They are actually tortoiseshell! I thought they were dark brown but that's what I get for not being able to see properly. The inner rims are actually a pretty shade of peach. So they are more interesting than I gave them credit for.

Bad news:

When I tried them on, there was obviously no prescription in them, which made me think they fit well around my eye. Unfortunately my prescription makes my eyes look smaller, so it still looks like they're a bit big around my eyes. I guess there's nothing I can do about that though. It's just another reason to prefer contacts.

Saturday I get my hair cut followed by a birthday festivity of sorts...which means dressing up and lots of picture taking. I probably won't wear my glasses but I can take a picture after I get back with glasses.

I'm afraid I won't be able to indulge you until I do something about the great slug on my forehead that forms when I get lazy about my eyebrows.

Okay slugger, you're off the hook!
