I went to the store to look at ankle boots. I brought home the Courtney lace-ups in dark brown.

For non-utility boots, I own a pair of tall suede Aquatalia riding boots in brown and two pairs of Docs. These are working well for me in my mostly MOTG life, but I wanted a slightly more refined bootie for occasional use. I almost got sucked into the Veronica combat boots...very predictable for me, but maybe for another time, if I decide the Docs are too clunky for me.

I like the Courtney Fryes but I can still return them. The store was out of the Veronicas in my size, but the salesperson brought out the Courtneys and they fit perfectly. My hesitation is that I would like to keep my wardrobe somewhat minimal. Since I'm still sorting out a "style" direction, I worry that I will spend money on something that doesn't really work for me. But if these are long-term keepers, I don't mind the investment.

They seem to work under my existing bootcut jeans and a pair of white straight leg jeans, and I can tuck my tight skinnies into them. In fact, when I did that at the store, at least 3 different women took long looks at my boots, and one came up to me and told me that I should take them home. lol. I would like to try skirts with them too, but I don't know when I'll get to that experiment.

Thoughts?
