I really hate to put a lot of time and effort into wearing make-up. I've bought into Angie's 90 second plan, or whatever she calls it. But I do wear foundation to help cover up acne marks until they fade (and the occasional blemish). In the past, I wore Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer, and if you have normal to dry skin, I think it is great. I have also tried Perfectly Real by Clinique and found that to be suitable. Right now I am using a Laura Mercier foundation I bought last august. It is oil free, and I really don't like it much. I can't wear it without primer, and my skin gets so dry in the winter that it is impossible to blend in. I'm thinking of trying Stila's tinted moisturizer next.
That paragraph probably doesn't help much. I have tried many, many types of foundations and have never found one that I love. My suggestions: if you have unblemished "normal" skin, and you want some coverage, I would try Clinique's Perfectly Real. If you really like tinted moisturizers (as I do), Laura Mercier's is top-notch. If you have Super-oily skin and like to have good coverage, I would recommend Laura Mercier's oil free foundation.
I've never tried minerals, but they seem too complicated. I once tried to use a loose powder and it was disastrous. I said never again. Tinted moisturizers are great because they moisturize, protect (with sunscreen), and give you a nice hint of color.
