Thanks Inge! I'm going through these one-by-one now, but it's taking awhile because my computer is acting slow today.
To clarify my requirements:
1) Solid color - I don't want a scarf with a print, because for spring/summer a lot of my tops have patterns already.
2) Obviously the color has to be flattering, since it will be near my face.
3) Color that will work well in my wardrobe. For example if I'm wearing grey and white, it seems yellow would be a great accent color for a scarf, but yellow looks like crap against my face. :-(
4) Non-scratchy material - I dress by "feel" as much as by mood. It's important to me that clothes feel nice against my skin. This is most important when it comes to scarves, which are at my neck. For example I was in F21 recently and many of the scarves seemed way too scratchy. :-(
5) Size - I want something that I can wind several times around my neck, euro-style, to keep warm on chilly spring days. Yet it can't be so long it is overwhelming on me either. But I don't think I'm really the type to wear a kerchief scarf artfully tied around my neck just for color. Does that make sense? I prefer a scarf that is more functional.
My green scarf that I bought in Paris is my ideal: it is a very lightweight pashmina. It's so soft, it feels really nice, yet it keeps me warm too. The color is very rich (it has sheen and the back is slightly darker than the front, which adds interest). The color is flattering to my skin tone and eye color. And the color is a good accent that works well with a lot of other items in my spring/summer closet.
I suspect this is one of those items I'm not going to be able to buy online. I'm too picky, and I really have to touch and feel it, try it on for size, and see the color in real life. :-(
