For Ana--Fall wish list: pearl necklaces/rings

Hi Ana

I don't know if you saw my earlier response to this on the fall wish list thread, so I hope you don't mind me repeating it here:

I wrote:
'Ana, about the pearl jewelry: do you prefer silver/white gold or yellow gold? And do you like clean lines for jewelry or would you also consider more ornate, 'baroque' pieces, vintage stuff etc.?
I immediately thought of the Chao & Eero 'bubbles collection'. You can order via e-mail. Mind you, they're not cheap!

In the meantime I came across a few other items, not sure if they are 'chunky' enough for you (I seem to remember you saying something about the fact that daintier pieces are not your best look on another thread?)

Maybe none of these are your style or don't quite qualify as statement pieces. Let me know what you think?

Oh, the 'Tweed Rhapsody Scarf' on this site suddenly made me think of you;-)

That first link doesn't seem to be working. Try this one:

Thanks so much Inge!

Dainty, delicate pieces do tend to disappear on me. I'm sort of looking for things that are a twist on the traditional strand of pearls--along these lines:

I might actually pick this one up at some point:

Chanel makes a shorter version of this, with the dangly bit incorporated into the necklace rather than hanging off it like a pendant. It's sort of my ultimate, "if I could find something exactly like this, only $400 cheaper, it would be mine" necklace:

Since my style is sort of preppy/smart, if the pearls veer more on the traditional/dainty side, it might end up looking kind of matronly on me. Does that make sense? I really like this one you recommended, because it's long:

I wish there was a Bloomie's nearby so I could check it out in person.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much again for thinking of me! I always love your suggestions, even if they don't exactly work, you find such interesting things! If you come across any other stuff, will you let me know? :)

I've died and gone to heaven, Ana. This is my fav:

I own the bloomies one you like. It’s also a favourite. Who am I taking the Mickey out of, all my pearl necklaces are favourites. I’m hopelessly devoted to each and every one.

I don't know if these are really your style, but I'll give it a try:

Oooh, I like the bloomingdales one too. I'm actually looking for something like this. I also saw a choker style one that I liked at Nordstrom. I may have to go back and check the price.

Thanks for the recommendations Tanya and Nicole! I clicked on the links and I saw this one on the site you recommended. What do you think?

Oh, I really like that one Ana! It has your name written all over it! I can totally picture you wearing it.

You're very welcome Ana, and yes it makes perfect sense to me. Of course I'll let you know if I find anything else. (thanks for the compliment, I do enjoy looking for things that are bit different).

I can definitely see you in the necklace with the cameo flower clasp, oh yes!

For myself I would pick the bloomies one or the last one Nicole linked to, and the second one Tanya linked too is lovely as well.
For some reason chunkier pieces don't look very good on me (or maybe I'm not used to the look?), although I'm tall and definitely not very dainty.

Looks like there are quite a few pearl loving ladies here on the forum, including myself. I've always been fond of them, but before finding YLF I never realised there is lots of funky and modern pearl jewelry out there, and I was getting stuck a bit with the classic pearl necklace that can indeed look a bit matronly.

Keep us posted about what you buy, pretty please? (now I'm very curious to see you in that last necklace!!)

Ana, that is SO you! Are you going to get it?

Posted 1 year ago

Very you Ana. And they are affordable. You should get them.

Posted 1 year ago

It's interesting how everyone posted pearl necklaces that I can see them wear, even if the suggestion was intended for someone else. Do you see that too?

Posted 1 year ago

Hmmm.....I think that may be true, Angie.

I think I will buy that necklace with the cameo rose. I could wear it with the clasp showing, or move it to the back for a chunkier, plainer look.

Posted 1 year ago

That's a very interesting observation Angie. I am yet to try out some pearls, but am very close to starting with that chunky AT necklace.

Ana, I am so glad you are getting the cameo necklace. Can't wait to see the photos, it is so you!

Nice choice Ana and you won't regret it Tanya. I can see you sport the ones you posted as well.

Posted 1 year ago

I like the ones I posted too Angie, The second one I would wear for certain. The first I like even more, but only if the metal were white gold or silver. Yellow gold does not look good on my skin color.

Posted 1 year ago

Now I'm curious, Angie, how many pearl necklaces do you own?

Posted 1 year ago

a cool metal looks better on you for sure, Tanya.

Wow, 15 pearl necklaces! You are indeed our Pearl Queen, Angie!

I hereby accept my coronation.

Hi Ana

I promised I would let you know if I found anything else, and I realise that originally you were only looking for rings/necklaces, but just in case you're considering bracelets too, here's one more:

Thanks Inge! I actually don't wear bracelets too often because of my watch (it's chunky so there's a lot going on my wrist already). I like the one you suggested though, very pretty! Thank you for thinking of me again! :D

ohh - i love this one but i'm a little worried that it might be too big? i was reading the comments and they kind of scared me. have any of you ever ordered jewelry from here?

Did you see it on the model to the right? I originally liked that one to, but I didn't notice how big it was until I saw the model.

That's one thing about buying jewlery online--if you can't see it on a model, then it's really difficult to judge how big or small it is.

Posted 1 year ago

Hmm. It does look larger than I thought on the model. Well, I guess my thought is that if you have a long neck you can pull off something this big and chunky. Maybe that doesn't work if you are shorter? I do really like it - I'll have to look at their return policy. :-)
