Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Footwear for yoga pants?

Cindy594 has a thread on cute lounge clothes and several have suggested yoga wear. I'm thinking of getting this style but am at a loss as to what kind of footwear is used with it other than sandals or bare feet. What do you wear on your feet, especially in cool weather?

Hmm, that's a tough one. If I were just kicking around the house, I'd be in socks... and if I were just going to run to the store I'd put on my running shoes (it would just look like I just came from the gym)
but, if I were going to sport the look for the day (is that a no no Angie?) I"m not sure how I would go. I don't own converse, but those might be cute.. Or, if you have any sporty inspired flats (like the skechers that were so big the last couple of years)
But actually, I guess I really wouldn't be sporting the look for the day unless I were truly doing nothing for the day other than kicking around the house and running an errand or 2 in which case would think nothing of putting my running shoes on for that.

Personally Joy, I would keep the look simple and comfortable with a stream lined fashion sneaker like this

I like to have something comfortable but weather proof for collecting the mail, trips to the dustbin, cleaning the windows etc.

Do others wear shoes at home? I don't wear outdoor shoes at home... I wear slippers. Not sure if this is taboo or something? This is how I was raised. :)

Yoga pants are my choice of loungewear as well, and I just pair them with supportive slippers. Especially if I have worn flat and unsupportive shoes all day, I like to change into a comfy supportive slipper at home. I like Haflinger: http://www.haflinger-usa.com/

Not exactly pretty... but it is loungewear after all. Am I committing a sin?

I won't wear these 'out' but I received the most comfortable slippers ever for Christmas last year:

In black, with my black yoga pants. Perfect 'around the house' shoes. Because they have a sole on them, good for running out to get the paper off the front lawn, or grabbing the mail as well. Super comfortable and cozy.

I also wear the haflinger slippers per Angie's suggestion when it's cold. Living in a warmer climate, they only come out 4 months of the year so my other pair of slippers are actually Birkenstocks.

P.S. Marianna, those doggie slippers are adorable. Now when can I justify a new pair? ;)

Thank you all for your responses. I'm understanding that you really don't wear yoga clothing except for lounging at home? My level of casual is not comfortable to stay dressed this way except to exercise or when sick, especially to the wearing of slippers. I usually shower and get dressed immediately for the day or I get lazy and linger too long over breakfast and before long the morning is gone. It has more to do with motivation than getting out. Exercising and dog walking in jeans means less changing during the day. Julie, if I do end up with yoga pants, I really like the type of sneakers you linked to. Thanks again for your responses. I'm beginning to suspect that I don't know how to lounge.

Too cute! I'm the same way actually, and it's only because of joining a gym that I ended up with yoga pants in the first place. I've since discovered that for a cozy evening at home, they're kind of nice to wear. I would not go out in my yoga pants (except straight to the gym and back).

I love wearing yoga pants for lounging. I don't wear shoes in the house, but if I go out in my yoga pants (for something workout-related that doesn't need trainers), I would wear a casual sporty shoe, like the Nike Free Mary Jane:

That's a footwear option I didn't think of, Cathy. Thank you for the idea. I need footwear in the house and this style and the sleek sneakers Julie linked to would give the support and protection needed.

Joy, I wear my yoga pants for lounging at home, exercising, and sometimes on Saturday mornings if I am going to work out afterward, to my WW meeting or grocery store. At home, I go barefoot or with socks, when exercising I wear my running shoes, and to WW meetings I wear sporty slip-on sneakers like Privos.

Speaking of which, I need to pick up a few more pairs of yoga pants at Target today. :)
