I love the dress and cardigan! The boots are lovely, too. I think the outfit would also work with other boots, higher heel, pointy toe.

When I saw the dress I got less of a flowery spring feeling and more of a leafy autumn feeling, so the boots are perfect for me. I think a lighter chestnutty color could also work beautifully, but certainly don't go purchasing new boots just for this purpose. The dark ones look good.

I agree about the colors... seems more autumn. But I was going to mention I prefer shorter skirts with boots, so that you can see a bit of leg, instead of the head to toe covered affect. But thats just me!

Same here - I think it's an autumny look and the boots work just fine. The dress and cardi look super together. One little thing: are you wearing black hose/tights? I can't see it very well, but lighter ones might work better.

Do you think that I could make it into a spring/summer outfit with a different color cardigan and summer shoes? I am thinking of orange or green or even cream, there is always a denim jacket? It is sleeveless so I believe was meant for summer. The colors work for me. I usually use some version of them all year long.

I think you could make this dress work for summer though. What do the sleeves look like? Could you wear it with a short sleeve cardigan? Or maybe even a knit vest? As far as choosing more summery colors to wear with it--there seems to be a purpley flower mixed in with the tans and browns. I would look for something that works with that shade. Maybe that color but in a pastel.

Also bare legs and sandals will summerize it.

what a great dress! where does it hit you on the leg? i'm thinking it could be shortened a good 1-2 inches. not a lot but it might make a big impact.

i love how you've accessorized it for fall! for spring, you could definitely do a cropped cardi or short-sleeve or 3/4 sleeve cardi. a denim jacket would also look fab.

Beautiful dress! I think you could summerize it with sandals and a denim jacket or perhaps a short sleeve cardigan in a more summery color - maybe off white, yellow, melon or maybe a contrasting turquoise

For Winter I'd prefer to see it with a brighter coloured cardigan (perhaps a shade of red or purple, something that matches the colour in the dress) and lighter coloured hose.

If you add a cream or off-white jacket or cardigan, it will definitely work for Summer too.
Oh, or maybe even a fitted V-neck sweater (LS, SS, elbow-length sleeves...). I think that might work with the tie-detail and the somewhat fuller skirt.

Thanks everyone!! I will take all suggestions and try to post a spring version. I was about to try with frye boots but what kind of hose, tights? I only have engineer boots, they may be too short but who knows?

What colour are the boots Jean?
I could see the dress with brown micro fishnets, but also tights in the same shade of red as the pattern in the dress (I know Angie is not a big fan of coloured tights, but if one person could make it work, than it's you).
