flannel suit and new Leo & Sage top

This is a combination thread -- is this suit worth altering and how does the Leo & Sage top look? So here goes...

I bought this BR green flannel suit about six years ago. I usually wore it it work with a thin brown wool turtleneck (but it was too warm today to put that on). This is what the suit looks like as is. Please excuse the high vamp pumps.

I really like the color and the fabric. I'd like to have the skirt taken in and shortened. I would wear it with boots and some kind of top. Show here with my new Leo&Sage top in brown, scrunched up (hopefully) to skirt length.

I'm not sure what to do with the jacket. It seems that I would need to have the shoulders taken in, shorten the sleeves to 3/4 length and do something with the sides to make it less boxy. Does it look worth all that effort and expense? Here it is over the Leo&Sage top and jeans.

And a focused view on the brown Leo & Sage top. I realize that as a brunette, I need to add some color so my hair and the top aren't too monochromatic. First attempt with white cami and yellow amber bead necklace. It feels like it fits properly and I love the fabric. What do y'all think?

you look so fab with the leo & sage top accessorized with the yellow beads and cami! I could see the skirt working if you alter it as mentioned, but it might end up being more cost-effective to just get a whole new skirt. Up to you, though.

The jacket doesn't seem worth altering. I'm not a fan of the high stance.

That Leo&Sage top is killer on you Aj! LOVE it! I love how you accessorized it. I'd also try it with beads/cami in following colors: teal/turquoise, purple, fuschia, green, red.

The skirt could be worth altering it, depending on the price. As for the jacket, I am sorry to say that it probably needs to go

The Leo and Sage top looks wonderful on you. I like the skirt if it is shortened. The jacket I'm not so sure about.

As soon as you took the jacket off, the outfit came to life. The jacket is dragging you down and feel stodgy. The top is to die for. Get it in every color!!!

First of all, I am not sure the jacket is going to be worth the alterations. It's quite large on you, and shoulder alterations are not always successful. The problem with shoulder alterations has to do with the arm holes. The arm holes are cut to line up with the shoulder seam and the sleeve seam. So the oversized arm hole can't be made smaller.

But...the skirt is very pretty, just needs to be shortened, and the top is KILLER! I give the top a 10+.

I have to agree with all the others -- the top is made for you! The skirt would be a lot nicer if shortened.

AJ, you look fantastic in the jeans, Leo & Sage top, cami, and necklace outfit. AMAZING! Both pieces of the suit really chop up your figure and "drag you down", like Kyle said. IMO, you could do a lot better for both top and bottom pieces. A fitted blazer would look so good over that top!

AJ, love the leo & sage top! I agree with the others about the jacket. I think you could definitely salvage the skirt. I think Tanya's ideas about other color necklaces to try are fun!

The jacket is in the donation pile and the skirt is in the alterations pile. And thanks for the compliments on th Leo & Sage top. I really like it so I am glad that it looks good.
