Hello,

This is my first post and question. I have been reading the blog for the last 6 months or so and hope you can help me.

I plan on wearing the black dress in this photo and wanted some ideas on accessories to jazz it up. It is difficult to make out the details in the photo, but it is a black, slightly drop waist, 60's style dress. The skirt has 2 very large pleats on each side. I am interested in possibly playing up the 60's vibe, but am open to whatever anyone thinks.

How about a long chain necklace with an interesting pendant? I was in college in the late 60's and had a roommate who wore a jade Budda pendant with dresses like this.

Gwenn: firstly thanks for posting. You look lovely in the dress. One idea: how about wearing it with the belt that Ana had on with her navy dress. Look for the posting where she's most recently posted pictures of her for a while week. The flower should evoke the 60's and the color will contrast nicely with your dress. Not sure how it woud look till you try it on but it could be very powerful if it goes well.

Hi Gwen, love your hair!

That dress looks great on you, but it needs some color. Are you married to those shoes? Changing the shoes to something that pops would be a pretty simple way to bring in some color.

I like the idea of a long necklace, maybe silver? That would go with your mod 60's theme. Or how about a scarf knotted close to the neck? Or instead of a necklace, how about a chain belt?

I see the roaring 20’s and the 60’s. Long pearl inspired necklace and cream go go boots. That’s how I’d wear that dress.

I meant to add that in the 60's I'd have worn patterned black stockings with that dress. Very 60's.

I would consider a really oversize pair of hoop earrings to capture the 60s vibe. Could totally see that with a pair of go go boots as Angie mentions. Fishnets could also be quite fun. Love the dress. Love it. Looks great on you.

Angie, the dress is Anne Klein from a department store (don't remember which) from about 4 years ago. I love the idea of boots and tights and will rock that in the fall/winter, but right now it is about 94 degrees here in Virginia, so I will have to wait on that.

I have put a few things together and will post the pic tonight!

Speechless you left me! both you and the dress so stylish....Since there is a belt the long neckless may clash withit and since you hair cover the ears I was thinking of some Art Deco brooch? Their lean design would perfectly the style of the dress. Anyway:Killer!
