Una, a shorter length on a baggy sack or shift dress is the only way to go -because skin equals structure. I love the length of the dress. Longer would have looked off.

My concern is the sheer panel above the length that creeps up further towards crotch point when seated. That's why I suggested the sit-down test - cross legged too - to assess whether you feel decent with the shifted position of the sheer panel. If you do, you're in business. And you've got yourself a gorgeous frock. Hope that makes sense.

I didn't read the other comments but I give it a 10, especially with those shoes!!

Really stunning, perfect for the occasions mentioned.

Angie, that makes total sense! I will check out the sheer factor when seated and make sure it's not obscene! If it works, I will be so happy to have a dress that fills this wardrobe hole before the holidays!

OOOoooh I hope it passes the test. I love the sheer inset, and agree, the length is totally appropriate for parties and such. Keep us posted. Crossing fingers.

*gasping for air*

Keep! There must be one party where you can wear this. Or date night.

It's a 10! Maybe an 11.

I'm out of superlatives, so I'll borrow one from my cats. MEOW! It's a yes! Just avoid any celebrity like sightings, if you know what I mean

I think you should just go and get yourself some fushia panties, and stop worrying

Really really great, so much better than on the model.

It's stunning on you, Una. Perfectly elegant and subtly alluring as someone said up there on another page of comments. I like the styling ideas gryffin had. Even if it's your go-to elegant occasion dress, it could be worth it. I could see it working for years hence. The shoulder detail adds to the elegance of the design, imo. It's a flattering little detail you wouldn't find in a less well-made dress.

P.S. a styling option for later on might be to wear a bright slip-dress under it, to show through the sheer panel.

LOL on the lingerie hints! And the slip is a great idea.

I don't do sexy but I do like the idea of subtle allure with an edge, which is what I saw in this dress. More pics to come - and thank you all for the kind and hilarious feedback! Celebrity sighting indeed.

One possibility if the sheer test fails is black opaque boy shorts. I really love this on you and think it's worth an undie investment.

I was going to say, "keep your knees together when you sit. There. Problem solved."... but the other answers are more practical

Seriously, I don't think I've seen a dress that is more you. Perfection!

Oh, this is just perfect! And the shoes! Love it. I was thinking the same thing as IK. Black spanx bike shorts (mid-thigh length) might make you feel more secure when seated, as long as they don't peek through the sheer insets when standing or walking. This dress hits just the right note.

This is Una dress for sure - I don't know if anybody else could have done this little justice as you do. Fingers crossed it passes the sitting test with flying colors - or otherwise what they were thinking of designing it?!
I knew a girl who made a blouse with sheer inserts and lined them in nude colored fabric - it was perfect: still looked sheer but was covered.

Big thumbs up from me too, really hope it passes the sit-down test. Love the length on you.

I'm in agreement with everyone else. I think this looks great on you and really matches your style. It's edgy but elegant enough that it will work for lots of functions. I vote keep if all the practical concerns about sitting down, etc., can be worked out.

It's stunning on you, and looks so much better on you than it does on the model!

What do you mean, you don't do sexy? This is so understated sexy!

I love you in this dress (and the shoes too). I was thinking a shorter bike short would work well too, or a fully covering boy short. Wearing something black underneath is critical, obviously. Nude underthings WILL be visible.

It's 11 for me. Love the sheer panels like that... on everything! IMO are very subtle and still an eyecatching detail. I have a summery skirt suit in taupe (linen with same color sheer silk insets near the hems of the skirt's end, and the 3/4 trumpet sleeves of the jacket) and I ove it! Love the shoes you paired them, too, very edgy with them.I say keep!

Fab dress. I think the forum - and the universe - is telling you to keep it!

I am incredibly late here, but had to chime in as this dress is all sorts of gorgeous on you. I really hope it passed the sit down test.
