Early 80's that is, lacy socks at the mall and slept in hair at the dive bar. I tried for a new romantics glam but that one kinda crashed and burned.

Ha! This is fantastic! I did not wear mismatched converse but I did the two (or three!) pairs of different color scrunched socks, worn in different orders on the two feet. I was in elementary school though, so I think my mom would have put her foot down about mismatched shoes. The closest i ever got was different color laces in my high tops.

I love your hair. I am totally serious, now I want blue streaks.

Thanks all! I edited the closeup because I was particularly proud of remembering that blingy pins were a thing then. Pretty sure I had a rhinestone star or two at the time. I remember wearing them with a brocade button-down, pinned right at the collar. Micheal Jackson introduced that whole 'princely' look I think.

Diana I was in middle school -- although later in the 80's high school -- ooh right, the laces were a big thing too! That's awesome about your socks.

Lol the hair, I kinda dig it too, I pinned these 'streaks' in place, but I could get into the real thing. Aida -- will it totally mess up our naturally dark hair?

Rabbit, the attention to detail in these outfits (and all the others) has been mind blowing. You are a true artist. You went the extra mile and WHACKED IT OUT OF THE BALL PARK. Good grief. Absolutely sensational. The outfit combinations, poses, sound tracks, facial expressions, accessories - AND HAIR were nothing short of sublime. The hair (wigs included) especially added an extra authentic dimension to all your era outfits.

WELL DONE.

THANK YOU for entertaining us this week. (I hope you had as much fun as we did). You ROCKED the challenge and all renditions were beyond BRILLIANT. It's very hard to pick a favourite - but I'm going with the '80s and early '60s as the ones that pulled at my heartstrings the most. Which were your faves?

Thank you for the challenge Angie! It was super fun, and it made me think a lot about clothing and culture --- and also get some new ideas for hair and makeup. Lol, I'm incapable of writing comments without typos too, no worries. I think my favorites might have been the 20's and 30's and the first 80's one. I also liked the green dress in the 50's.

For me it's a curl issue; the bleach strips the curl out of my hair! It is also drying, but that's pretty manageable. If you don't have curls to keep you should be fine

I did the double scrunched socks in elementary school too! And I had pink high-top Converse. Which I wanted so badly I even made up a song to sing about it to wear my parents down until they finally got me a pair for my birthday.

Wow. Another amazing set of outfits! Thanks for the entertainment.

The funny thing is that many of these outfits and descriptions are bringing back memories I didn't even know I had! I was nowhere near cool growing up, yet I remember other people wearing certain things as you describe. Sure I wore lacy ankle socks, and plastic earrings, and a few things, but this kinda reinforces what a dud I was. We wore so many homemade clothes back then.

BUT - I do remember getting onstage in grade 6 and participating in an airband competition mouthing "we got the beat." i had no idea what I was singing, I must have been subbing in for someone - but it was pretty fun.

But I digress. Thanks for taking us down memory lane. Well well done

Aida - good to know about the bleaching, might be worth a try...

Donna and Aida - #3 is closest to what I've worn in RL pre-YLF, actually I'm pretty sure I wore exactly this, but with less rolled sleeves and two braids when at an artist residency once.

amiable and Aubergine - more love for colorful mis-matched socks, I didn't have another lacy sock to play with but I remember that. Aubergine lol at your Converse song, these are pink (hard to tell with the light) but in high-school I had high-top red, lavender, off-white, and black. I paired with cut off army surplus cargos and tie-dyed tees during my skater phase they were pretty much all I wore.

jackiec - it's amazing what memories we forget about isn't it? Awesome that you lip-synched to that song. I definitely wasn't near cool, and my clothes were thrifted. I remember middle school being the one time I really, really wanted to conform though, so I started out with thrifted polo shirts and contrasting bandanas rolled, knotted, and tied around the neck -- still got picked on some for not getting all the details of the outfits/clothes right. Somewhere early in high-school I was 'adopted' by my best friend, one of the counter-culture kids (deadheads, hardcore/punk, and skaters) and never looked back.

Thanks everyone, it's been a fun week, and I think next week I want to wear contemporary outfits out and about inspired by aspects of everyone's historical outfits -- I've gotten some great ideas about color and shape.
