Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Fall shoes -- bow booties and red Converse

I blogged about my new fall shoe purchaes, but a couple of them may be of interest to some people so I thought I would post it here.

Maya, I remember you posted those ADORABLE booties with the bows; I think I found the type that will work for me! I love these because they are fabric, but not suede, which is key for me. The heel height is just right, the shoe is very comfortable, and they are cute as the dickens. Annd, they were $39 at the Naturalizer outlet.

I now cannot wait for fall to start, because I think with hose and tights they will look best.

Thanks to seeing Inge during the challenge chain in her red Converse, I finally took the plunge and got a second color (I have charcoal gray). LOVE them!

I will also be looking for a red bag, and chestnut knee-high boots. I'll keep you guys posted if I find any good ones!

I'm totally loving all the bows and ruffles for the fall as well. I love those booties! SO adorable!

What great shoes! The booties are way cute. And, I've wanted to jump on the Converse bandwagon for awhile now but I'm always afraid I'll feel juvenile in them. I love that you got red! I may be brave enough to get a pair for myself now! :)

I think you will look very 'Miss Moneypenny' in the shoots (shoe/boots). I think you are right and they will look even better with tights.

I also think you can never ever own too many pairs of converse.

You are amassing quite the shoe collection there Kristen. The grey ones with the bows are so fab!! (you have killer legs by the way!).

And I'm honoured I inspired you to go for the red Converse, you won't regret it. I've worn mine countless times over the last few months. (I'm thinking of bright yellow for my next pair;-)

Argh I have these red converse and they are still plaguing me, everytime I try to wear them I feel like a clown :-(

I'm sorry to hear that Robin. Maybe you could post a picture for us, would that help?
How have you been wearing them? I think they look differently paired with skinny jeans/straight-legged trousers and wide-legged trousers.

Love your new bow shoes - they are gorgeous. I think the wine patent LC boots are beautiful too.

You now have me convinced I need a red bag for fall. Also looking forward to seeing you find chestnut/cognac boots.

I'm not ready for the Converse yet. Baby steps. :)

Ooooh, so glad I have some fellow bow-bootie lovers here! For a while I wasn't sure if they were over the top but I don't think they will be. They should be a nice change-up from my heeled oxford styled booties.

Inge, I was eyeing the bright yellows too! Then I realized I wear a lot of bright yellow tops in my casual outfits, and that would be just too matchy. The red is a better contrast for that.

But now that I *have* the red, maybe the yellows can be next... :):)

Velvetychocolate, I will let you know if I find any good red bags; I really do think that's the right contrast color for me, given the browns and greys of my neutrals, and the blues, teals, purples, yellows and oranges of my main colors.

I used to have a pair of red leather cons which I loved! I now have a white pair and have recently seen a green croc leather pair which I quite love.

BTW I love your booties they are sweet and sylish at the same time and the fabric look is great as it really softens them.

Lovely booties! And Converse, of course. I'm on my fifth pair of hot pink Cons and just bought my 53 year old mum a pair in Carolina Blue. To anyone on the fence about them, I say go for it! :) Classic look, tons of colors and patterns to choose from.. Not too many other shoes can say the same.

Swoooooon over the bow shoes. They are so cute you could eat them.

Kristen, you always have such great shoes! Very impressive.

We are red Converse twins! (Triplets with Inge).

You are having SO MUCH fun with your new wardrobe. Love it!

Okay, back to shoes. All fabulous! Bring on Autumn.

Rute is so cute :0)

I'm a sucker for shoes! Lurve the bows and the nude heels. You've got a killer haul. Love them all and can't wait to see what you do with them!!!

I'm not a bow/ruffle person, but those bow booties -- wow! Fabulous, and you are smokin' in that outfit!

Converse is another shoe I don't quite get. Would love to see how you style them!

Cathy!!! What is there NOT to get about Converse?

I tried the casual sneaker look (with Simple Sugar shoes) about ten years ago and never got into it. I guess I equate sneakers with gear, and I only wear gear when I'm working out or hiking or whatever.

I think it's a cute look on certain people (the mixing of sneakers and "nicer" clothes), but I don't like it on me.

Oh darling, Cathy. Let me enlighten you :0)

Simple Sugar shoes aren't Converse! Those *do* look more like gear and I would also not wear them. But Converse are 100% retro. They haven’t changed the aesthetic of Chucks (which are the only Converse I wear), since the 50’s. I dare you to give them a bash.

Rute, Angie is right, you are too cute.

Marlene, the Naturalizer style is Loren. Check the outlets since I don't think they carry the same shoes as the regular stores.

Angie, I think you, Inge and I should post one outfit in our red Converses, just to show all the doubters how fun they can be. Are you in? Inge?

Posted 2 months ago

Kristen -- yes, please you and Angie and Inge show us how to do with the Converses!

Angie -- I guess I can revisit it. Although my Simples aren't like the ones they have now; I had retro Simple Sugars that were really similar to the low-top All Star Chucks.

So when you refer to Converses/Chucks you are talking about the high-top or low-top versions?
