Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Fall Looks ~ What do you plan to try?

Ok, while thinking about what I need to finish up for my fall wardrobe I'm thinking I might want to try some new fun things. So, I was wondering what "looks" everyone has in mind for fall?

For example, one thing I want to try this year is to wear some skirts with boots & tights. I think I also want to try some leggings for fall. I didn't think I'd ever say that as I haven't worn leggings past the late '80's (early '90's? who knows). Anyway, I think my eye is finally adjusting to the look. And, I've gotten in a lot better shape this summer also so I think that helps.

So, just curious to what looks everyone is planning to try out for fall?

I'd love to try the shaggy waistcoat Angie blogged about the other day x

I will try some nice opaque tights like this ones:

Day Dresses (to go with the tights) in cobalt blue or deep purple (great colors for the fall and also to go with my skin tone.

A Trench coat.

hmm -- well, while i usually live in my boots once the weather gets below a certain level, i'm looking for some chunky, heeled mary janes to funk up some of my fall outfits. i'm thinking worn with tights and skirts, that could look very cool :)

I'd like to try stirrup or ankle-length leggings, and I may try to jump on the bootie bandwagon if I can find the right ones. Do they come in wedges?

I got some micro fishnets (the Oroblu ones on sale at the NAS) and want to figure out how to wear them! Then again, our fall is kind of summery so I might have to wait until winter to wear them.

Joy -- yes, I've seen wedge booties. They're cute!

Thanks, Cathy. Most booties I see look way too high in the heel for me. Have you tried the nude micro-fishnets. I really like them and didn't expect to.

-I am bent on getting a sweater dress finally.
-Booties or ankle boots that are flat or have very low heels but are still cute and not dowdy or boring. I wouldn't normally mind a small heel but all of my pants and jeans are hemmed for flats. Much as I love the tall boots and skinnies look, I need a break every so often.
-Boyfriend cardigan. I have one but it has a band on the bottom that causes it to scrunch up too much. I would like a longer one.
-Turquoise moto jacket that has been on my wish list for ages but I need it to go on sale

I probably won't get even half of these things, but if I end up with even 2 I'll be satisfied.

Denim or dark color moto jacket. Something without breast pockets please!

So far that's it on my list - I always crave tweed suits in fall though.

I am really looking forward to trying sweaterdresses, and boots with a variety of outfits, not just with tights and skirts (my usual outfit). Actually, I'm also looking forward to converting some of my lighter dresses into winter ones with judicious use of layers and accessories.

Skinny jeans, sweater dresses, and ankle boots!

Fashion boots, not cold weather boots. Can you believe I live in Canada & have never owned a pair of fashion boots? I feel ashamed ;) That's my big new thing for fall/winter. Before YLF I never paid that much attention to my footwear. I know own probably double the pairs of shoes I've ever owned at one time before in my life, and it's still isn't very many. Less than 15 pairs for sure.

Boots over skinnies/under dresses with tights, (faux) leather moto jacket/vest, stirrup leggings ad micro fishnets :-D

Oh la la! Nice fashion envelope pushing, ladies. I shall hold you to your new desired looks.

This Autumn and Winner I’m going “mod girl meets bond girl“. I’m leaving the romantic ruffles and flowy things behind and opting for strong simple lines. I’m going to get a real kick out of looking very strict.

I want to do a transitional look with a summer dress and a boyfriend cardi, maybe a belt(?). Ankle boots that are flat. These may just exist in my mind. I do love the idea of the shaggy vest.

Less season specific, I want to make a focus of bringing a bit more edge into my dressing. I tend toward more conservative (staid) looks, but love it when I stumble upon a look with edgy sophistication. So that's the goal.

Edit - I also really would like to find a KILLER sweater dress.

Amen to more edge Alecia - I'm going to try to do that too. I would like to continue working toward allowing my personality to come out through my clothes. People are generally shocked when they get to know me, and they say it's because I look so sweet and innocent (and apparently I'm not?).

My quest is to find a pair of boots for tights and skirts/dresses that fits my skinny calf that I can still afford. I imagine that boots will eat up a lot of my fall budget, which is limited anyway, but if I have money left, I'd like to find the perfect sweaterdress and a few more skirts to pair with said boots.
