F21 has upped its game!

Stopped in today on the way through the mall. The quality and style seems more Zara-ish, and the sizing is more generous. Still a lot of day-glo crop tops that would fit a 10 year old, but a lot of classier items, and I ended up picking up some random cute pieces. Maybe we are the last F21 in the country to update, but I am impressed!

The bomber is tempting. Is it black and white? I wonder how it would look with the black and white window pane check ankle pants?

It is black and white. A little cropped - i.e. waist length on me. SUPER CUTE. It would go with the pants if you wanted an ALGO pattern mix.

I've been impressed with F21 items I've seen on forum members. I know Angie says leave no retail stone unturned, but it's one of those stores I'm almost afraid to shop at, for fear I'll walk out with something I like that looks ridiculous on me. Isn't that silly? I really don't trust my own fashion sense in some ways, truthfully.

I haven't been back in one since their earlier days-- I was in my very early 20s and a size 4 jeans and couldn't find a thing that fit. Someday I will go back, but only because you ladies prove that real adult women can fit in the clothes.

The clothes do look grown up ^_^ ... I have always liked their jewellery and shoes. Their outerwear is fun too.

Yes! My zippy sweater/sweatshirt last winter, and my jumpsuit this spring were both F21 and not shoddy at all.

This is good to hear. I also tend to shy away from F21 and regard it as a "teen store", but there have been some super cute pieces popping up lately. thanks!

Yeah I've been impressed with them this year -- they are about equivalent to my local H&M in what they are carrying now. Some of their coats and sweaters don't necessarily stand up to close scrunity of the materials, like H&M, but I like a lot of the styles http://www.forever21.com/Produ.....wear_coats

ETA: although I browse a lot, I rarely buy because of the lack of return policy, but what I have bought has worked out well so far.

I haven't been to the F21 site for several months. I've been trying to up my own game and buy stuff that really makes me look like a grown-up. I have some youthful facial features, so I have to be careful with what I wear. In the past, it seemed like most of the F21 items had some kind of design element (extra zippers, cheap fabric) that made them read "young." But the stuff they have now does look more like H&M, as rabbit pointed out. I'll have to give them a try next time I'm at the mall. I'll have to make sure I bring my earplugs, though!

Gigi, I never use the website - I find its really important to feel and see the items there. Some items are amazing quality and others feel like trash already...

Well, you are convincing, but I just can't. I get in there, pick out a few things getting into the trend mindset, convince myself that spending money on this stuff is ok to do, avoid the fitting room line-ups because they are full of 15 year olds, then get to the cash line up and am reminded of their outdated no-return policies, dump the whole lot and leave. I have bought the odd thing there over the past couple of years (mostly while trailing mindlessly after my daughter ) but invariably end up tossing whatever I bought after a season of not wearing it. But, that quilted sweatshirt of yours keeps calling to me.....although it's likely long gone by now.

I am curious about their manufacturing practices too - where, how, under what conditions too - something I try to be very mindful of where possible.

Every time I've gone in the store (I shop online too) I've seen at least 3 women or more in my age group. It use to scare me ,but not anymore. I recently even took DH in there and he tried on knit blazers and liked them although didn't purchase one , Yet...
