What color are my eyes, and do they appear warm, neutral or cool? This pic was taken in natural sunlight with no makeup on. For some odd reason my eyebrows are lighter than the hair on my head. Thanks for putting up with my questions!

Green with some hazel or gold perhaps near the centre hard to get close enough to see as on phone but I can see two colors first is green. Perhaps Spring colouring?

I think your eyes are green. However, they're the same color as my mother's, and she says her eyes are hazel. I see the tiniest bit of brown, but the overall impression is very green. I would say cool, also.

Green, cool maybe a hint of greeny- blue in there. I too have a tricky eye color; if you search my posts for the "hazel eyes" one, someone posted a helpful eye color chart. I'll try to find a bit later, just posting on the run now

I'd say greenish-blue. They don't appear hazel -- although my definition of hazel might not be the same as everybody else's. To me, hazel eyes are greenish-brown, full stop. Yours do appear to have a bit of yellow near the pupil, but that's what's making the blue look greener.

On a driver's license, I think your eyes would be listed as blue.

As for warm or cool, it's relative. Compared to brown eyes, your eyes are cool; compared to true blue eyes, yours are warmer.

I'm going to say hazel since you have gold in your eyes, but I can't tell on my computer screen whether your eyes are a green-hazel, a blue hazel, or not hazel but actually a gray eye with yellow rim.

I have hazel eyes and they can read green or blue. Depends on the light and what I'm wearing or other colors around me. Also as I've aged they're more often appearing as green; everyone in my youth said I had blue eyes; today at 50 everyone says green. Not sure why that is. But they are still different than hubby's pure green eyes, and my DD's true blue eyes.

Thanks, everyone. My mother said they're hazel, my oldest sister said they're blue, a friend said she sees green, and my DD said that sometimes they look blue and sometimes they look green. Heck if I know! I guess the consensus is cool, though??? If they were true green or true blue, I wouldn't be asking, lol.

Yes, if I had to pick, I'd say cool. A warm green is on the browner side; you have cool (i.e. bluer) green eyes.

They appear similar in coloring to mine. Bluer toward the outside, with gold on the inside, which can give an overall impression of green.

I've always thought of hazel as more green-brown/gold, so I've never used that term to describe my eye color. However, I relate to everything Shiny said about her eye color. When I was a child, I got compliments on my blue eyes, now I hear more remarks that they are green. They definitely change in appearance depending on what I wear -- they tend to really "match" the teals, turquoise and green-blues that I wear so often.

Thanks for the chart! I think they're closest to #3 on the first line (going from top to bottom). They never look that way in photos, though. They can look blue, green or gray - but never bright like Spring. Oranges and reds bring out the blue. Any green will bring out the green. Black makes them look gray.

Betty, if you had to veer one way of the other, would you better pull off something "too warm" or "too bright" ... this might give you a clue

BC, I think they look blue-green (that is, green with a blue cast, as opposed to green with a yellower cast) but I trust nothing regarding color on a monitor.

Janet, I've always wondered it must be a regional thing. I was born in the midwest and grew up with my parents telling me my eyes are hazel.

I remember when Ceit found that link to the chart, it was a revelation to me that others consider hazel more of a brown/ amber as my eyes are in no way either of those. My sister has amber eyes -- we always called them auburn since they seem to match her hair.

Betty, I'm going to say soft summer. Does wearing blue bring out the blue or green for you? It oddly brings out the green for me, which seems counter-intuitive...

Shiny, me too ... many people say my eyes are green, but my parents insist they are not green but hazel - I think for some hazel is a catch-all for any "mixed" color. What a lot of people call hazel, I call amber. It's all very confusing!

My eyes are army green with a brown ring, like the 4th over on the 2nd row. My mother says they are brown. Her eyes are the same as Betty's but she says hers are hazel. BTW, she's from California, FWIW.

If I had to go warmer or go bright, I'd go warmer. I already tried bright and it doesn't work. Muted blues and gray blues bring out blue. Bright blues make my eyes look dull in comparison. Shiny, my mom was from the Midwest. They have their own terms for things up there, lol.

Your eyes are a lot like mine, which I consider to be blue-green and cooler in color. (I also have that little bit of warm golden hue toward the center -- but the outer part of the iris is cool.) Interestingly, even though my eye color is cool, my skin tone is decidedly warm (peach tone as opposed to pink) as is my hair (auburn)… so I do not think that eye color alone determines "season". I am an Autumn with blue-green eyes. Go figure!

I agree that eye color doesn't determine season. I'm splitting hairs by trying to choose between soft summer and cool summer. I read that all 3 (skin, hair & eyes) have to be cool for you to be one of the cool seasons. I'm presently leaning towards soft simply because cool doesn't seem to be overly obvious to some of you. My hair is neutral brown. It doesn't look right when I use ash brown hair color. It starts looking a bit warmer when my hair grows out and the roots show. With neutral brown, I can't see where it's growing out except for the white hairs.

Sounds like you're a soft then. Cool summer can veer fairly bright as I understand it.

Is your current hair color your natural hair color if you don't mind me asking I thought I saw some older photos of you where you seemed to be more or a red head/ auburn but I could have you confused with someone else just thinking if your natural hair color is different to your current hair color it might be the cause of your trouble figuring out your colors. I'm having the same problem but I'm auburn with very dark brown eyes

I color my hair as closely to my natural color as possible. Neutral brown seems to be it. Hard to tell with old photos that weren't taken with a good camera and are starting to yellow with age. Recent professionally taken photos don't show any red in my hair, though my DDs have said they see hints of red when I'm in the bright sunlight. One of my hairdressers said my hair has golden undertones. I can't seem to push my clothing of makeup colors too warm, though. Neutral seems to be where my coloring is - at least now that I'm older. I don't look good in bright white, or any other bright color. My natural hair color seems ashy to me, but ashy hair color looks off. Weird.

One way to figure out your undertones is to go to the make up counter and play around with foundations. I use TrueMatch and always used C1 or C2, because I do have a lot of pink in my skin and obvious blue veins, so I assumed I'm a cool.

Then my gf was visiting, she forgot to pack her foundation, so I lent her mine... she walked out of the bathroom looking like she'd smeared calamine lotion all over her face!! It was incredible. She is very much a Spring.

Anyway that episode got me experimenting so I bought some N1 instead... and realized it was a better match for me. Tones down the redness, blends in well, etc.

As far as seasons, I find the best way to determine is simply to try on clothes in various colors.

I read somewhere if your veins on wrist look blue you are cool if the look green you are warm and if you can't figure out if they are blue or green you are neutral or in my case you need glasses so you can see properly ha ha hope that helps

Well, if I go by my veins, it looks like I have some blue & some green. Through trial & error at the makeup counter, I figured out I need a yellow-based foundation (I, too, look like the girl with the calamine lotion on my face); but from what I've read, that doesn't necessarily mean much because some women have cool undertones and warm overtones. My face is pinkened from rosacea, and the warm foundation tones it down. Geez! I do feel better when I either wear a monochromatic outfit or a medium contrast outfit. I don't like extremely high contrast unless I add a midtone color to it. Does this make any sense? I feel like my personal color contrast is medium,

Yes that makes sense and I've come to the conclusion a lot of these color analyst things offer different versions using pretty much the same questions which only confuse us more I got two different answers this past week I've been a cool winter then a warm something or other so I'm none the wiser I'll just have to ask my teen what color my viens are and hope he does not think I've lost the plot

I know, right? I get different results with different color systems. I know they give you just enough information to want to pay for a personal consultation. I look around at what other people wear, and think most people seem to know what colors work for them - except for the poor souls who wear black and look like death in it, but wear it anyway because they think it's more professional or more slimming.

I used to live in black mostly because it's so easy to find trying out some other colors as I go along aubergine is meant to work on anyone and there were a good few others that worked on all skin tones such as emerald, charcoal, fuchsia, navy, cobalt blue, teal and purple. might be an easier route to take while we figure it all out
