and 1 more: I like it "AS IS" original length. At least promise to wear it a couple of times at this length before chopping. If you do eventually chop, bottom of knee cap would be best, better than above the knee for this style. Try it -- you might like it...

The dress is gorgeous! Love the color and pattern on you, really, really pretty. I don't necessarily think this is a true-midi on you, and being perfectly honest, and going against the grain here, I find it to look a bit frumpy at this length. I think it would be look great on you at a shorter length leaving the sleeves as is, because it does have that 70s retro feel to it.

Good luck with your decision!

Yet another vote for leaving it as is! It's just perfect.

Wear it as is before you decide whether you want to shorten it.
Another vote for leave it as is!

Joining the chorus here to say that I love this dress as is! I actually love the sleeves and the length together - I think it gives a wonderful, elegant, drapey feel to the whole thing.

I think that this is actually the ideal midi length, one that is far easier to wear than tea length in my opinion. Even I, who am far less tall and statuesque than you, can wear this length of skirt.

Another vote for keep as is or at least wear it a few times before making a final decision about altering it so that your eye gets used to the length.

I love the colour on you, it perfectly compliments your skin.

I am another who loves the sleeves, they add a very subtle point of interest.

It is a very romantic dress, without being to over the top!

Great dress and it really suits you at that length. Far more elegant at that length. Another vote to keep the sleeves.

Team as is.

It's stunning. Perhaps you just need to look at the pic again after a night's sleep!

Heather, the pattern and colour of this are DIVINE on you! I must confess my initial preference is for the shorter length, but I am choosing Team wear it as is before making any decisions. Can't wait to see it again!

I'm with the bottom of the knee group. I'm just a little taller than you and for myself I always prefer bottom of kneecap for a fuller skirt. That proportion always looks better on me than the "in between" length.

It is a beautiful dress and looks wonderful on you.

I am so back and forth on this length issue.

As of now, I am frump-a-lump in it as is.....however, no hasty trips to the tailor have been scheduled. I will continue to give it some more thought....

Again, another huge thank you to everyone who chimed in (some more than once) to leave very honest, thoughtful opinions. It is very greatly appreciated.

Uh, Heather, you couldn't look frumpalicious if you tried. I love the longer length. I'd vote for right below the knee cap. I actually like it as is too. The sleeves are dramatic and look very proportional with the dress length IMHO. I say you can wear ANYTHING!

This dress is so gorgeous (color, pattern, cut..) on you! I absolutely love it. Like Angie said, it can work at either length. My own eye hasn't adjusted to the midi length yet (still looks a little frumpy to me), so I'm thinking maybe that's your hesitation, too.

You could always wear it as is for now and be on trend, then shorten it when the midi trend ends. That way you can participate in a trend and still have a dress for the long haul when the trend ends (because you know it will!).

It all depends on your comfort level. If you feel unhappy with the longer length, you can go ahead and shorten it now and it will look great.

hahaha ok i'm sorry but i just lol'ed because it got resurrected XD
