Dressed up in the middle of the week

Dressed up today, but sadly for the funeral of my uncle. Although he was 88 and lived a rich, fulfilling life.

Anyway, I know this day is so not about me, but I am sharing the outfit. I realize I'm not quite prepared for this situation. Today is warm and sunny, so hopefully I don't look too seasonally confused with my open toe summer sandals. I really need to find a good pair of pumps to go with this dress. I added my black bomber style jacket in case the tabernacle is chilly and also to look a bit more serious and not like I'm going to a garden party. Again I realize I need some better type of topper for this dress to make it work for more than one season. My work life is spent in scrubs, so I don't have business dressy to utilize.

Apologies for the picture quality, right now I don't have a good picture taking location- our house project includes a large walk in closet, so there is hope for the future! The last shot is a close up of the pretty floral panels in the skirt of the dress.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Zoiechic, and agree with bj1111 that your outfit looks wonderful and great for the occasion (the floral panels are beautiful and unexpected).

So sorry for your loss, Zoiechic. It is hard to lose someone, no matter how elderly. And hard also to look in your closet and feel unprepared. However, I do think you did extremely well on a moment's notice and looked suitably respectful.

Your uncle sounds like he was a dear man. It is nice to have an outfit on hand for such occasions, but you look respectful and subdued, which is right. My condolences.

My condolences. I think your dress looks perfect for the occasion. The shoes work well. I have a funeral to go to this weekend and I'm not sure what to wear yet. It's for the father of a very close friend who was also in my book club. I'm thinking black pumps, black pants and I'm not sure what top to wear.

Condolences. Loss is loss. Age is age. They don't necessarily conflate.
Your outfit works. I'm glad you had the items in your wardrobe.

Sara L, I'd say black pumps, black pants, and any subdued, appropriate top will work well. (Not sure if you already got dressed for the funeral or not.)
