About your wardrobe and personal style

Dress Your Style Challenge: April

My goal style was:

Sophisticated
Elegant
Smart

Here is my attempt, starting with Kristen's basic "palette" outfit: Denim of Virtue skinnies, AT tee, you know the shoes:

Making it my (goal) style:

The accessories:

(How funny is it that the pillow and tray visible in the background match this outfit. Apparently I have a color scheme...) :)

Too Funny on background colors! Well done!! I especially like how you showed the base pic & then the pic with your style. NICE!!

This will be the funnest part seeing how everyone takes the base & uniquely applies it to their style. Kudos to Kristen! :)

April, I think you're outfit is great! I love the green bag and your brulees! I think you achieved your style goals with this outfit! I agree that you have a color theme running, but hey, if it makes you happy!! :)

Love. The pearls especially give it that extra something.

April, I love this outfit, especially the color palette. I think your use of color and accessories makes this outfit very smart.

Wow! Great example of turning a casual outfit into something SO smart and chic! You look great! I love the flower detail on the pearls.

Ooh, I love that you did it plain then styled. The color palette is very smart, and I love the trendiness of the necklace and wristwatch. (I know trendy wasn't one of your goals, but you met it anyway!)

Fab and chic outfit! Love the green bag with the teal top.. I would say you definitely nailed your style goal.

The color palette is great! I love the combo of green and teal--very fresh. I like how the jeans give the outfit a little twist to what could be a more straightforward sophisticated outfit.

However, I'm having difficulty trying to figure out the difference between "sophisticated" and "elegant." I kind of have a vague feeling, but perhaps you could articulate what those mean to you?

You did it, April. Bravo! Pretty, pretty colours. Super fab outfit :0)

I think that elegance is a subset of sophistication, Cathy.

I'd say you have met your goal and look very elegant, smart, and sophisticated. Lovely outfit.

Thank you all for your kind words. I just wanted to say that a year ago, not only would I not have been able to state any style goals, I certainly would not have been able to go to my closet and achieve them. Thank you Angie and all of you for helping to make that possible.

Also, if elegant and sophisticated are that close (and I am having trouble defining them separately myself) I should probably update my list and collapse those into one. I have realized that "classic" is not a big priority with me, so I'm going to go with:

Elegant
Smart
Current

I love the before and after pics April - it really helps me SEE what a difference accessories can make to a basic outfit. I love the results!

You look very smart and current, April! Since "elegant" and "sophisticated" are so close (I'm still kind of fuzzy on the difference), I would say your pearls and the watch are wonderful elegant/sophisticated touches.
