Dress Opinions Please - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Everyone!

On Friday I took advantage of the big sales and bought a couple dresses (not for the gala, just for everyday wear), and a skirt, too. Plus, a dress I ordered a long time ago finally arrived. I wanted to post them to get some opinions, and ideas for wearing them, if you all had some ideas and things. I really want to find some cropped jackets to wear with them, but I'm not sure what styles. Also, shoe options would be really helpful. I'd like to get some Frye Harness Boots 12R to wear with some of these.

Peach and Grey Wrap Dress. Admittedly, not my best colors (these are "Tanya Colors," but I really like the pattern and the shape, and I think it would look really cute with a white or black jacket. Needs to be hemmed:

DVF Wrap Dress. Brendan said, "Hey, nice bathrobe." It does have that feeling, but that's what appeals to me about it--how easy it is. Does it need to be hemmed?

Abstract Print Skirt. I put some options together from things I have in my closet. I don't think I like a turtleneck on me, and I'd probably skip the belt with the white blouse and just tuck it in instead:

Okay, that's it! Thanks for the help, everyone. Sorry I haven't been posting as much the past couple of days--it's Finals Week starting Monday, so it's been pretty busy/miserable. I'd much rather be on here hanging out with you guys. I will try to check in and comment on study breaks.

Ana, all I can say is WOW to that Milly dress! Whoa. You look incredible. And you also look incredible in that abstract print skirt.

I do really like the shape of the first dress. It is a very flattering neckline for you. That would be my third favorite.

DVF wrap dress: this is my least favorite - sorry to agree with Brendan

Ana, you have really picked some winners! Love the Milly dress - it is so pretty & romantic! I also really like the abstract dress on you as well as the abstract skirt. In fact, I love the skirt - it is a perfect fit and the yellow top really makes it pop (especially cute with the jean jacket). I don't know if the turtleneck is the best top though - maybe you can find another yellow blouse or knit shirt to wear with it? Hmmm, that DVF dress - it does have a silky bathrobe vibe going on! I think if it weren't for that blue silky collar, it might have worked better.

The Milly dress is so pretty on you, and the abstract skirt WITH the turtleneck are wow, wow, wow. You look incredible. These things were made for you. I love the skirt with the denim jacket. Great look.
I hope you can make the DVF dress work with the right accessories because it is such a beautiful fabric. Were you able to take advantage of the DVF sale at NM? I think this dress has potential with your special magic.
The peach and grey wrap dress is sort of blah as is but you may be able to bring it to life as you said with a hem and a jacket.

LOVE the Milly dress and the abstract skirt. I actually adore it with the yellow turtleneck.

I'm not a fan of the other two dresses, the first one because of the colors and the DVF because, to me, it looks a little too fussy with the bows on the sleeves...like it's trying to be more glamorous than the cut of the dress. I don't know if I'm articulating it very well. Anyway, it's only my opinion so go with what you like.

I LOVE that Milly dress on you! It is a beautiful thing! I'm so glad you scored.

I like the abstract skirt second, and I actually like the idea of the white shirt and red belt best (except that this particular shirt is too long for a skirt ). The yellow top is too expected and a bit matchy matchy for me.

So, the DVF dress is a big no for me and the other dress...I love the cut and the fit on you but I agree that the colors are not the best for your skin tone. I'll hold out on the final word after seeing you with a cream jacket or cardi, which I think will be best for it.

I am with others on the Milly dress! It fits you like a dream. The skirt is also nice, looks very well with all the outfits you've put together.
I am not a fan of the first dress, the color washes you out a bit.
I love the color and the fit of DVF dress. The only thing that bothers me a bit are the bows on the sleeves. Otherwise, it is perfect!

Ana, I adore the Milly dress, it is breathtaking! I' d try it with a touch of red, yellow or cobalt. The skirt is incredible too, love it with yellow.

The first dress is gorgeous, but I agree that the colors are not best for you. Unless you want to always add a touch of flattering color in cardi or scarf, I might return it. The DVF dress - it is pretty, but really pales compared to the Milly one.

The skirt is amazing and the Milly dress is beautiful, esp. the sleeves.

I actually don't mind the first one but I think you could probably do better. It's just not really remarkable and the colors are dull. The DVF dress I'm not sold on. It does look like an overly fussy bathrobe to me. The print is lovely but it's not really doing anything for you.

I'll take the first dress back and the DVF dress (Brendan is happy about this decision). I think I will get some boots to wear with the stuff I keep instead!

That skirt is killer indeed Ana, such a unique piece! I love it on you, and I love that shade of yellow on you as well. I actually like the turtleneck, it looks lovely with your short hair and I really like it paired with the skirt. Oh you can do sooo much with this skirt!!

The Milly dress is amazing as well, it looks like it was made for you.
Returning the two other dresses and going for boots instead, sounds like a plan to me;-)

Ana, I am actually a fan of the peach and grey dress - it fits you so well and how about pairing it with a jacket or accessory that brings your face into more color glow? Love the skirt next and I like it best with the denim jacket and yellow top. I don't care for it as much with the red belt because the belt and the skirt are both so statement - that it might be too much? I am not a fan of the DVF dress. I'm also envious if you can wear these dresses at this time of year there.
