Is it really a factor of my height? I always wonder about that. For the longest time, I thought I had proportionately short legs, particularly because "stubby" legs run in my family. But somewhere along the line I found some site that was talking about vertical proportions and I measured myself and the results were that I am evenly proportioned all over. So basically if you took my 5'0" frame and blew it up so I was 6'0, couldn't I still wear the same skirt, except in a regular not a petite? Assuming the skirt hit at the exact same place on the thigh?
Or is it something about the fact people are always looking down at me when they view me? If I was 6'0, people would be viewing me from a totally different angle? Or is it a factor of leg length relative to torso length, for example if that 6'0" person had long legs relative to torso length?
Related question I've always wondered about: can anyone tell how short I am in pics, if there's nobody standing next to me?
Incidentally this pic of me and my 5'11" girlfriend cracks me up:

We couldn't be more opposite, could we? But, she wears minis and shorter length dresses fairly frequently, and looks great. She's 36. Her legs are long, long, long. When I compare myself to her, not only do I look a foot shorter, you can see why I've always thought my legs were "stubby." But they aren't - they are exactly the same length as my torso. HER legs are longer than her torso. But I guess she's used to breaking all the fashion rules - she does so all the time - and yet it works.
