Dress for travel

I travel (fly) quite a bit. And normally, I end up sporting a pair of denims, T-shirt, sweater and keds - a bit boring. Criteria I consider:
1. Shoes should easily slide off
2. Something warm to cover up in during an icy flight
3. Something I can nap in incase of lengthy layovers

Any ideas for stylish yet comfy ensembles to travel in?

I'm going to cross thread a little bit here....

In a different thread, I mentioned this catalog that I received in the mail the other day. http://www.travelsmith.com They sell items that are designed to pack and travel well. Unfortunately, many of their items are little too old for my taste, but I really like this jacket and am thinking about ordering it.

I like the jacket too. Beige or blue Nicole? And you can absolutely leave that jacket open to create a slimming vertical line down the front of your body.

Thanks I'm glad to hear you guys like the jacket. It's nice to have some cyber friends to get this kind of feedback from. I like that the jacket doesn't have pockets on the chest.

I am undecided on the color. I'd prefer the blue because beige can be so boring, but I can wear more colors with the beige.

I just ordered a peplum mandarin collared jacket in a teal blue. I'm not sure how the peplum is going to work on my curvy figure. If it's a keeper, then I'll probably order the TravelSmith jacket in beige. If the peplum jacket doesn't work, then I'll order it in blue.

And you can wear colours with blue! But the beige is more striking with denim (if you wear denim) and to have jacket in each colour is a good idea. Let us know how the peplum jacket works out and whether it was easy to buy from Travelsmith.

A comfy cotton jersey dress/or a shirtdress paired with leggings and
flats works well for me and is versatile and comfortable. In colder weather I wear boots instead of flats.

I have been an avid Travelsmith fan for many years. Their clothing is extrememly well-made and really performs up to the standards they describe in the catalog. I have two of their "perfect dresses" and several suits. They shed wrinkles and accomodate the many different temps one experiences while travelling. I also totally agree with nrl about the pashmina. It is a lifesaver when you get stranded in the airport and just want a blankie!

I like Josie's idea of the shirtdress and leggings--I'm going to try that on my February trip.
