oh, please. speaking as a patient (been in hospitals a fair amount), i wish they'd focus more on things like gel nails and doctor's ties - both of which have been proven to be full of germs and great at transmitting them to other people. What the h311 do i care about hair color, tats, piercings, etc.? i want capable, competent, caring people!
i remember getting prepped for surgery as a young woman (around 20). The tat-covered, long-haired orderly was trying to position the EKG senors without 'offending my modesty' (the sensors are circular adhesive patches connected to wires). You need to place these on certain spots on the chest, so it was kind of ridiculous. Then, the grandmotherly head nurse came in, looked at him like 'what are you doing?'. She whisked my gown off down to my hips, plip plap plop placed the sensors, then covered me back up. "There!' she said, and on to the next thing.
Biker orderly and i were both frozen in shock. Looks mean nothing! Hang in there Anna, we love you no matter how you look, steph
