I for one, cannot wait to try the mid-price versions of these that will hopefully be at retail this spring. I am quite sure a flurry of scorn and wonder will be heaped upon this shoe, and me for wanting them - and who knows whether it's still comfortable and wearable in my advanced age! But I think this is a fab, chic look with jeans. Yes, the satin footbed is ridiculous but I'm sure that the retail versions will be more practical.

Oh my! I remember those so well. I like those so much more than Birks. Count me in to try them at the right price.

Boy is that ever a throwback to the '70s. Only the genuine Dr. Scholl's were comfortable back then. There were many uncomfortable imitations.

I do worry about the flop-flop-flop. But, if I can walk in them comfortably, I will probably bite. Those olive ones? With lightly tanned feet and painted toes? Beautiful.

Blast from the past! I wore these back in high school.....the 70's. I seem to recall mine having a wooden foot-bed that was molded to the foot. I don't recall if they were comfortable or not. I was too young to know any better.

I never could wear a shoe that flops in the back (gotta have a strap or something for me) - they look cute on some who can wear them, my sister used to ONLY wear this brand back in the 70's.

Oh, I'd try those! I bought some pointy-toed leopard calf hair flats this autumn that are Dr. Scholl's and they are wonderfully comfortable. I think they're worth checking out!

Yes, Marilyn, the Dr. Scholl's footbed was wooden; the imitations did not have genuine wood footbeds.

I remember these! Loved the look of them compared to Birks. I couldn't keep them on so didn't wear them, but would be willing to try again...they are cute with shorts.

These cured me of my pigeon-toed stride in 6th grade. If you can imagine, I would hit the inside of my ankle bone with the shoe if I turned in my toes --- ouch! I was cured, but I still have scars.

I would buy a pair of these each summer. By the end of the warm months, the wood would be worn down to a splinter. I still remember the satifying "whack whack" sound as I walked down the street. Not sure that's such a good thing for the heels, though!

Big Dr. Scholl fan in the 70s and 80s because I found the wooden footbed very comfortable--although I wonder if it would be the same forty years later. It would be hard to resist any of those, though, if I saw them in the stores.

I actually love the thought of playing around with touches of 70s fashion, but I think I'd avoid any attempts at full-on duplication. New has always been more interesting to me than looking back so I've never been much for re-visiting my former looks. I must admit, though, I get a kick out of seeing the youngsters sporting outfits eerily similar to what I used to wear when I was their age.

I don't want to do a full-blown duplication of the '70s, or of any other decade. I just want to add little touches here and there that work for me and remind me of the things I liked about that period of my life. There are things I didn't like, too, and I'll just skip those. Also, there are certain things that I could rock back then that I'm quite certain I'd need to avoid this time around.

I've tried Dr. Scholls and they don't work on my feet at all. Now Birks I love, but I couldn't get the Scholls off fast enough...

I loved those way back when! Late 60's to the early 70's. They used to sell them at pharmacies and they cost $12.95, I think. They came in navy, bone and red. With my bell bottoms and a pocket tee, and a d-ring ribbon belt.

I used to wear them all the time -- but they weren't really all that comfortable on my feet even though they were *supposed* to be good for them. Go figure why I continued to wear them.

I wore them in the 70s too. I always seemed to be hitting my ankles with the wooden soles. That doesn't happen with my Birks

I bought some Dr. Scholl's branded flip flops last summer and loved them. I am not a flip flops person, but these were more like sandals and they are supremely comfortable. I would buy these sandals.

If Birks can be super fashionable, then I'd say these are in with a good chance. It seems people have fond memories of them, so why not have fun and be comfy too?

I loved wearing these in the '70s, but I wouldn't wear them today due to the sound. Still love the look though, so clean and classic.

Dr Scholls wood soles were never comfortable to me when I tried them, even though I was really young when they came into popularity.

These remind me of a pair of sandals I gave up a couple of years ago. They were platform slides with gold Chinese-patterned silk-like fabric uppers. They were pretty and comfortable but started to look dated. Sigh. Must I hang onto everything?

oh, how i longed for a pair of dr scholls when i was in jr high, but this was one trend that my mom completely said no to!
